He was loyal to King Huai of the Chu during the late Warring-States Period but was always forced away by other ministers. Following the death of King Huai, he was banished for slander by King Xiang of the Chu, finally drowning himself in Miluo River. Qu Yuan is also regarded as one of the most prominent figures of Romanticism in Chinese classical literature, as well as the earliest poet in China. He is considered to have initiated the Chu Ci style of verse, which is represented by works including Li Sao (Confronting Grief) and Jiu Ge (Nine Songs).
Majore achievements: facilitating Chu-Qi alliance and initiating the Chu Ci style of verse.
Representative works: Li Sao (Confronting Grief), Jiu Ge (Nine Songs), Jiu Zhang (Nine Chapters) and Tian Wen (Heavenly Questions)

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1889418300638825"
data-ad-slot="7273022922"
data-ad-layout-key="-gw-3+1f-3d+2z"
data-ad-format="fluid"></ins>

Qu Ping, Han nationality, with the courtesy names of Yuan or Lingjun and often known as Qu Yuan, was

[2856,9
173
post-13506","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-ancient-chinese","category-chinese-culture","tag-chinese-class
["GET
