Located in the south suburb of Chengdu, the temple covers 37,000 square meters (398,277 square feet). The date of its establishment is unclear, only that it was built next to the temple of Liu Bei, the emperor of Shu. It was combined with the Temple of Liu Bei at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty; consequently, the entrance plaque(\u533ebi\u01cen) reads "Zhaolie Temple of Han Dynasty" ("Zhaolie" is the posthumous(\u6b7b\u540e\u7684s\u01d0hòu de) title of Liu Bei). The current temple was rebuilt in 1672. Surrounded by old cypresses(\u67cf\u6811b\u01ceishù) and classical red walls, the temple evokes(\u5524\u8d77huànq\u01d0) nostalgia(\u6000\u65e7huáijiù).<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n\u6b66\u4faf\u7960\u5750\u843d\u4e8e\u6210\u90fd\u7684\u90ca\u533a\uff0c\u5360\u5730\u9762\u79ef\u4e09\u4e07\u4e03\u5343\u5e73\u65b9\u7c73\u3002\u6b66\u4faf\u7960\u5177\u4f53\u7684\u5efa\u9020\u65f6\u95f4\u5df2\u65e0\u5904\u53ef\u8003\uff0c\u53ea\u662f\u63a8\u65ad\u5176\u5efa\u7acb\u5728\u8700\u56fd\u7687\u5e1d\u5218\u5907\u9675\u4e4b\u540e\u3002\u660e\u671d\u65f6\u671f\u5f00\u59cb\u4e0e\u5218\u5907\u9675\u5408\u4e3a\u4e00\u5904,\u5165\u53e3\u5904\u9898\u533e\u4e3a“\u662d\u70c8\u5e99”(“\u662d\u70c8”\u662f\u5218\u5907\u6b7b\u540e\u7684\u5c01\u53f7)\u3002\u5bfa\u5e99\u4e8e1672\u5e74\u91cd\u4fee\uff0c\u56db\u5468\u79cd\u690d\u4e86\u5927\u91cf\u7684\u53e4\u67cf\uff0c\u56f4\u5899\u4e5f\u7528\u53e4\u5178\u7684\u7ea2\u8272\uff0c\u6574\u4e2a\u5bfa\u5e99\u5145\u6ee1\u7740\u4e00\u79cd\u6000\u65e7\u7684\u6c14\u6c1b\u3002<\/div>\n

The main body of the temple is divided into five sections, the Gate, the second Gate, the Hall of Liu Bei, the corridor(\u8d70\u5ecaz\u01d2ulán\u0261), and the Hall of Zhugeliang, all of which run south to north. Inside, clay sculptures(\u5851\u50cfsùxiàn\u0261) of Shu Emperor and ministers stand together, making them a special feature.<\/div>\n

The most valuable cultural relic(\u9057\u8ff9yíjì) within the temple is the stele(\u77f3\u7891shíb\u0113i) set up in 809. This huge stele 367-centimeter (144-inch) high and 95-centimeter (37-inch) wide is called the Triple-Success Stele. The three successes are: an article written by Pei Du, a famous minister of the Tang Dynasty who served four emperors in succession, calligraphy(\u4e66\u6cd5sh\u016bf\u01ce) by Liugongquan, one of the most brilliant calligraphers in Chinese history, and a statement about the morality and achievements of Zhugeliang.<\/div>\n
