Jiahu Site is mainly distributed over 55,000 square meters. It was discovered in the 1960s, but o<em><\/em>nly since 1980s have significant and systematic excavation activities begun.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 1em 0px; padding: 0px; text-overflow: ellipsis; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 25.200000762939453px; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">To date, o<em><\/em>nly a<em><\/em>bout five percent of Jiahu has been excavated, uncovering a<em><\/em>bout 2,300 square meters, including 45 house foundations, 370 cellars, 9 pottery kilns and thousands of artifacts of bone, pottery, stone and other materials. Fragments of approximately 30 other flutes were also discovered. The flutes may be the earliest complete, playable, tightly-dated, multi-note musical instruments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 1em 0px; padding: 0px; text-overflow: ellipsis; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 25.200000762939453px; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Studies of original and calibrated radiocarbon ages of the Neolithic site at Jiahu show that Jiahu&#8217;s ancient rice is of&nbsp;a<em><\/em>bout 0-8,800 years old, that is 1,000 years earlier than that of Hemudu and Luojiaqiao. Jiahu&#8217;s ancient rice is close to the rice of Pengtoushan, Lixian, in Hunan Province.
