Horse Driving Town is a town of Jiulo<\/em>ngpo District, Cho<\/em>ngqing Municipality. Here is circulating a kind of folktale that originated and was passed down by word of mouth by people who made a living by driving horses. People call it a horse-driving story. The exact date of origination of the story is beyond examination, but the horse-driving ground was set up at the turn of Ming and Qing dynasties and soon prospered. The story developed along with it, so it had basically lasted for four to five hundred years or so.
\u7531\u4e8e“\u8d70\u9a6c”\u4eba\u7fa4\u7684\u751f\u5b58\u73af\u5883\u548c\u751f\u6d3b\u9605\u5386\u4e0e\u5e38\u4eba\u4e0d\u540c\uff0c\u6240\u4ee5\u4ed6\u4eec\u521b\u4f5c\u548c\u8bb2\u8ff0\u7684\u6545\u4e8b\u663e\u793a\u51fa\u67d0\u4e9b\u7279\u70b9\u3002\u8d70\u9a6c\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u5185\u5bb9\u5e9e\u6742\u3001\u7c7b\u578b\u591a\u6837\uff0c\u9664\u4e86\u6c11\u95f4\u4f20\u8bf4\u6545\u4e8b\u7684\u4e00\u822c\u7c7b\u578b\uff0c\u5982\u795e\u8bdd\u4ed9\u8bdd\u3001\u98ce\u7269\u4f20\u8bf4\u3001\u52a8\u690d\u7269\u4f20\u8bf4\u3001\u6c11\u4fd7\u4f20\u8bf4\u548c\u751f\u6d3b\u6545\u4e8b\u7b49\u5916\uff0c\u8fd8\u8574\u85cf\u7740\u5176\u4ed6\u72ec\u7279\u7684\u6587\u5316\u4fe1\u606f\uff0c\u8bf8\u5982\u5df4\u4eba\u56fe\u817e\u9f99\u86c7\u7684\u4f20\u8bf4\u7b49\u3002\u4f5c\u4e3a\u53e4\u4ee3\u5df4\u6587\u5316\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u9057\u5b58\uff0c\u8fd9\u7c7b\u6545\u4e8b\u7684\u6570\u91cf\u76f8\u5f53\u5927\u3002
As living co<\/em>nditions and life experience of the horse drivers were different from common folks, they created and related the story in a way of their own, too. Actually, the co<\/em>ntent of the story is miscellaneous and the type varied. Apart from the general type of folktales, such as myth, legend of relics, legend of plants and animals, legend of custom and story of life, it reveals its unique cultural features, like the legend of dragon or snake as totem of the local people. As im<\/em>portant remains of the local culture of Cho<\/em>ngqing in ancient times, such stories come in pretty large numbers.
20\u4e16\u7eaa80\u5e74\u4ee3\u7f16\u7e82“\u4e2d\u56fd\u6c11\u95f4\u6587\u5b66\u4e09\u5957\u96c6\u6210”\u65f6\uff0c\u5728\u8be5\u9547\u91c7\u5f55\u5230\u7684\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u76ee\u5f55\u8fbe10915\u4e2a\uff0c\u8bb0\u5f55\u5b8c\u6210\u6570\u8fbe9714\u5219\uff0c\u53e6\u5916\u8fd8\u91c7\u96c6\u5230\u6c11\u95f4\u6b4c\u8c23\u4e09\u5343\u4f59\u9996\u3001\u8c1a\u8bed\u56db\u5343\u4f59\u6761\uff0c\u6b47\u540e\u8bed\u548c\u4fd7\u8bed\u7b49\u56db\u5343\u4f59\u6761\u3002\u5168\u9547\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u5bb6\u5171316\u4eba\uff0c\u5176\u4e2d\u80fd\u8bb21000\u5219\u6545\u4e8b\u7684\u67092\u4eba\uff0c\u80fd\u8bb2500\u81f31000\u5219\u7684\u67093\u4eba\uff0c\u80fd\u8bb2200\u81f3500\u5219\u7684\u670910\u4eba\u3002
During the compilation of The Three Complete Collection of Chinese Folk Literature back in the 1980’s, the folktales collected in this town was as many as 10,915 with 9,714 successfully recorded. And there were also more than 3,000 ballads, 4,000 adages and 4,000 idioms and sayings uncovered. There are altogether 316 master story-tellers in the town, with two being capable of telling 1,000 stories each, three capable of telling 500-1,000 stories each, and ten telling 200-500 stories each.
\u8d70\u9a6c\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u5177\u6709\u8bb2\u8ff0\u65f6\u673a\u548c\u573a\u5408\u7684\u591a\u6837\u6027\u3001\u6545\u4e8b\u6784\u6210\u7684\u591a\u6e90\u6027\u3001\u672c\u571f\u6587\u5316\u4e0e\u5916\u6765\u6587\u5316\u7684\u5171\u5b58\u6027\u7b49\u7279\u5f81\u3002
The horse driving stories feather diversity of narrative time and places, multi-sources of story formation, and coexistence of local and external cultures.
1990\u5e74\uff0c\u8d70\u9a6c\u9547\u88ab\u91cd\u5e86\u5e02\u6587\u5316\u5c40\u547d\u540d\u4e3a“\u6c11\u95f4\u6587\u5b66\u4e4b\u4e61”\uff1b1992\u5e74\uff0c\u5de5\u519c\u6751\u88ab\u547d\u540d\u4e3a“\u4e2d\u56fd\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u6751”\uff1b1998\u5e74\u8054\u5408\u56fd\u6559\u79d1\u6587\u7ec4\u7ec7\u3001\u4e2d\u56fd\u6c11\u95f4\u6587\u827a\u5bb6\u534f\u4f1a\u8054\u5408\u6388\u4e88\u9b4f\u663e\u5fb7“\u4e2d\u56fd\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u5bb6”\u79f0\u53f7\uff08\u5168\u56fd\u517110\u4eba\uff09\u3002
In 1990, the Horse Driving Town was named “Home of Folktales” by Cho<\/em>ngqing Cultural Bureau; in 1992, Go<\/em>ngnong Village was named “China Folktale Village”; and in 1998, UNESCO and China Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Art jointly co<\/em>nferred upon Wei Xiande the title “China Master Folktale Story-teller” (totally 10 people nationwide).
\u76ee\u524d\uff0c\u8d70\u9a6c\u6545\u4e8b\u9762\u4e34\u4e25\u91cd\u5371\u673a\uff0c\u4e3b\u8981\u95ee\u9898\u5728\u4e8e\u4f20\u627f\u4e4f\u4eba\u3002\u62a2\u6551\u3001\u4fdd\u62a4\u8d70\u9a6c\u6545\u4e8b\uff0c\u4e0d\u4ec5\u53ef\u4ee5\u4e30\u5bcc\u6c11\u4f17\u7684\u6587\u5316\u751f\u6d3b\uff0c\u800c\u4e14\u80fd\u591f\u4e3a\u4eba\u7c7b\u5b66\u3001\u6587\u5316\u5b66\u3001\u5b97\u6559\u5b66\u3001\u6c11\u65cf\u5b66\u548c\u65b9\u8a00\u5b66\u7b49\u591a\u79cd\u5b66\u79d1\u63d0\u4f9b\u7814\u7a76\u8d44\u6599\u3002
At present, Horse Driving Town is facing a crisis – there is lack of people to inherit the stories. The salvation and preservation of horse-driving stories can not o<\/em>nly enrich the cultural life of people, but also provide research data for fields including anthropology, cultural studies, religion, ethnology, and dialect.
