{"id":8350,"date":"2019-10-22T12:00:46","date_gmt":"2019-10-22T12:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chinesemoment.com\/chinese-reading\/shaolin-launches-website-shao-lin-si-kai-wang-dian\/"},"modified":"2019-10-22T12:00:46","modified_gmt":"2019-10-22T12:00:46","slug":"shaolin-launches-website-shao-lin-si-kai-wang-dian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chinesemoment.com\/de\/shaolin-launches-website-shao-lin-si-kai-wang-dian\/","title":{"rendered":"Shaolin launches website \u5c11\u6797\u5bfa\u5f00\u7f51\u5e97"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\u5c11\u6797\u5bfa<\/p>\n<p>  sh\u0103o l&iacute;n s&igrave;, Shaolin Temple<\/p>\n<p>  Ordering your favourite kung fu paraphernalia is as easy as high-kicking a pressure point now that those canny mo<em><\/em>nks at the Shaolin mo<em><\/em>nastery in China have opened their website.<\/p>\n<p>  Martial arts enthusiasts can snap up a pair of Shaolin slippers or a kung fu handbook with the merest click of a mouse after the monastery, birthplace of the elegant fighting code, decided to expand its already thriving merchandise empire by going online.<\/p>\n<p>  The Shaolin Temple, built in AD495 in Dongfeng, is the birthplace of kung fu, but the o<em><\/em>nline operation is the latest example of financial stealth by the marketing warriors.<\/p>\n<p>  In the o<em><\/em>nline store you can buy kung fu tea or T-shirts, chopsticks and bowls for those delicate balancing movements, while the manual giving you the lowdown on the five fighting styles of the Shaolin warrior &#8211; Tiger, Leopard, Snake, Dragon and Crane &#8211; will set you back an auspicious (and indeed hefty) 999 yuan (&pound;74).<\/p>\n<p>  As well as being a monk, the abbot of the Shaolin monastery, Shi Yongxin, has a reputation for clever financial dealings. He was criticised for accepting a spanking new luxury car for his services to the local tourist industry in Dongfeng. But it is undeniable that he has done a lot to popularise the town &#8211; it has more than 80 martial arts clubs and schools, with a<em><\/em>bout 50,000 students.<\/p>\n<p>  &ldquo;The Shaolin temple is the cradle of kung fu, which brings with it the great respo<em><\/em>nsibility of promoting kung fu,&rdquo; said Mr Shi.<\/p>\n<p>  He&rsquo;s doing quite a job. There are more than a million students of Shaolin kung fu around the world.
