When Li Ka-shing established his plastics manufacturing enterprise and began to produce plastic flowers with the technologies he learned from Italy, his business thrived very soon. Since the supply could not meet the demand, he just reduced the quality of his products so as to complete the piles of orders. As a result, many of his clients claimed to return the products. In addition to the bank loans and clients claims for compensation, his factory was in great trouble and was on the brink of bankruptcy.
\u8fd9\u5929\uff0c\u6bcd\u4eb2\u5e84\u78a7\u7434\u53eb\u674e\u5609\u8bda\uff1a“\u513f\u554a\uff0c\u7ed9\u5988\u5988\u6ce1\u4e00\u9053\u529f\u592b\u8336\u3002” \u674e\u5609\u8bda\u7528\u5730\u9053\u7684\u51e4\u51f0\u8336\u7ed9\u5988\u5988\u6ce1\u4e0a\u4e00\u9053\u6f6e\u5dde\u529f\u592b\u8336\u3002
One day, his mother Zhuang Biqin said to Li Ka-shing, “My son, could you make me a cup of Kung Fu tea?” Li Ka-shing made his mother a cup of Chaozhou Kung Fu tea with genuine phoenix tea.
\u5e84\u78a7\u7434\u5429\u5490\u674e\u5609\u8bda\u5750\u4e0b\u6765\uff0c\u54c1\u4e86\u51e0\u53e3\u8336\u540e\uff0c\u95ee\uff1a“\u4f60\u8ba4\u8bc6\u8001\u5bb6\u5f00\u5143\u5bfa\u6cd5\u53f7\u53eb\u5143\u5bc2\u90a3\u4e2a\u4f4f\u6301\u4e48\uff1f”\u672a\u7b49\u674e\u5609\u8bda\u56de\u7b54\uff0c\u5e84\u78a7\u7434\u7ee7\u7eed\u8bf4\u9053\uff1a“\u5143\u5bc2\u5e74\u4e8b\u5df2\u9ad8\uff0c\u5e0c\u671b\u627e\u4e2a\u5408\u9002\u7684\u63a5\u73ed\u4eba\u3002\u5019\u9009\u4eba\u662f\u4ed6\u7684\u4e24\u4e2a\u5f92\u5f1f\uff0c\u4e00\u4e2a\u6cd5\u53f7\u4e00\u5bc2\uff0c\u53e6\u4e00\u4e2a\u6cd5\u53f7\u4e8c\u5bc2\u3002”\u674e\u5609\u8bda\u9759\u9759\u5730\u542c\u7740\u6bcd\u4eb2\u8bf4\uff0c\u5e76\u4e0d\u63d2\u8bdd\uff0c\u53ea\u662f\u7ed9\u6bcd\u4eb2\u6ee1\u4e0a\u4e00\u676f\u529f\u592b\u8336\u3002\u5e84\u78a7\u7434\u5477\u4e86\u4e00\u53e3\u5de5\u592b\u8336\uff0c\u53c8\u63a5\u7740\u8bf4\uff1a“\u5143\u5bc2\u628a\u8fd9\u4e24\u4e2a\u5f92\u5f1f\u90fd\u53eb\u5230\u8ddf\u524d\uff0c\u8bf4\uff1a‘\u6211\u73b0\u5728\u7ed9\u4f60\u4fe9\u6bcf\u4eba\u4e00\u888b\u7a3b\u8c37\uff0c\u660e\u5e74\u79cb\u5929\u4ee5\u8c37\u4e3a\u7b54\u5377\uff0c\u8c01\u6536\u83b7\u7684\u8c37\u5b50\u591a\uff0c\u8c01\u5c31\u662f\u6211\u7684\u63a5\u73ed\u4eba\u3002’\u7b2c\u4e8c\u5e74\u79cb\u5929\u5230\u4e86\uff0c\u4e00\u5bc2\u6311\u6765\u6ee1\u6ee1\u7684\u4e00\u62c5\u8c37\u5b50\uff0c\u4e8c\u5bc2\u5219\u4e24\u624b\u7a7a\u7a7a\u3002\u5143\u5bc2\u5374\u5f53\u4f17\u5ba3\u5e03\u4e8c\u5bc2\u62c5\u5f53\u63a5\u73ed\u4eba\u3002” \u674e\u5609\u8bda\u6253\u65ad\u6bcd\u4eb2\u7684\u8bdd\uff1a“\u4e0d\u662f\u8bf4\u597d\u8c01\u6536\u83b7\u7684\u8c37\u5b50\u591a\uff0c\u5c31\u9009\u8c01\u5f53\u63a5\u73ed\u4eba\u4e48\uff1f”\u5e84\u78a7\u7434\u7b11\u4e86\u7b11\uff0c\u8bf4\uff1a“\u662f\u7684\u3002\u4e00\u5bc2\u542c\u4e86\uff0c\u4e0d\u670d\u6c14\u5730\u8bf4\uff1a‘\u5206\u660e\u6211\u6536\u83b7\u4e86\u4e00\u62c5\u8c37\u5b50\uff0c\u4e8c\u5bc2\u9897\u7c92\u65e0\u6536\uff0c\u600e\u4e48\u80fd\u591f\u8ba9\u4ed6\u62c5\u4efb\u4f4f\u6301\u554a\uff01’\u5143\u5bc2\u5fae\u5fae\u4e00\u7b11\uff0c\u9ad8\u58f0\u5730\u5bf9\u4f17\u4eba\u8bf4\uff1a‘\u6211\u7ed9\u4e00\u5bc2\u548c\u4e8c\u5bc2\u7684\u8c37\u5b50\uff0c\u90fd\u662f\u7528\u6eda\u6c34\u716e\u719f\u7684\u3002\u663e\u7136\uff0c\u4e8c\u5bc2\u662f\u8bda\u5b9e\u7684\uff0c\u7406\u5e94\u7531\u4ed6\u6765\u5f53\u4f4f\u6301\u3002’\u4e8e\u662f\uff0c\u4f17\u4eba\u60a6\u670d\u3002”
Zhang Biqin told Li Ka-shing to sit down. After sipping some tea, she asked, “Do you know the abbot in Kaiyuan Temple in our hometown whose name is Yuan Ji?” Before Li Ka-shing could answer, Zhuang Biqin continued, “Yuan Ji was very old and hoped to find a suitable successor. His candidates were his two apprentices: One was Yi Ji and the other was Er Ji.” Li Ka-shing listened quietly without interruption. He refilled his mother’s cup. Zhuang Biqin took a sip, continued, “Yuan Ji called his two apprentices before him, saying, ‘I give each of you a bag of rice. I will check your work next autumn. The one who harvest more rice will be my successor.’ In the next autumn, Yi Ji carried a full load of rice, but Er Ji took nothing with him. However, Yuan Ji immediately announced that Er Ji was his successor.” Li Ka-shing interrupted his mother, “Didn’t they agree that the one who harvest more rice would be the successor?” Zhuang Biqin smiled, “Right. Hearing this, Yi Ji was not happy. He said, ‘It is me who harvested a load of rice. But Er Ji got nothing. Why do you let him be the abbot?’ Yuan Ji smiled and said loudly to every one, ‘The rice I gave Yi Ji and Er Ji were actually boiled in water. Obviously, Er Ji is ho<\/em>nest and should be the abbot.’ Then, every one was completely convinced.”
\u5e84\u78a7\u7434\u5ffd\u7136\u8bdd\u950b\u4e00\u8f6c\uff0c“\u7ecf\u5546\u5982\u540c\u505a\u4eba\uff0c\u8bda\u4fe1\u5f53\u5934\uff0c\u5219\u65e0\u5371\u800c\u4e0d\u514b\u4e86\u3002” \u674e\u5609\u8bda\u542c\u7f62\u6bcd\u4eb2\u7684\u8bdd\uff0c\u6df1\u6709\u611f\u609f\u3002\u4e0d\u4e45\uff0c\u674e\u5609\u8bda\u7684\u8bda\u4fe1\u6253\u52a8\u4e86\u94f6\u884c\u3001\u4f9b\u8d27\u5546\u548c\u5458\u5de5\uff0c\u5f62\u52bf\u56e0\u4e4b\u597d\u8f6c\uff0c\u5371\u673a\u6210\u5c31\u4e86\u5546\u673a\u3002\u674e\u5609\u8bda\u4ece\u6b64\u5728\u5546\u754c\u7ad9\u7a33\u4e86\u811a\u8ddf\u3002
Then, Zhuang Biqin switched the conversation, “Doing business is just like co<\/em>nducting yourself in the society. With ho<\/em>nesty as the rule of doing business, you can co<\/em>nquer every difficulty,” Li Ka-shing was inspired by his mother. Soon, Li Ka-shing moved the bank, suppliers and employees with his ho<\/em>nesty and changed the challenge into business opportunity. Thus, Li Ka-shing got a firm foothold in the business circle.
