His courtesy name is Changqing. He was a great poet of the Western Han Dynasty, represented by Zixu Fu (Master Nil). His work is of fabulous words and a big structure, which made him into a representative writer of Han Fu (a literary genre), later known as the Saint Fu. The story of he and the widow Zhuo Wenjun’s elopement is popular. Lu Xun refers to him and her in a special chapter of Outline of the Chinese History of Literature. "Speaking of literati during the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, no one is a better poet than Sima Xiangru and no one is a better writer than Sima Qian."
Representative works: Ai Ershi Fu (Lament to the Second Emperor of the Qin Dynasty) and Tianzi Youlie Fu (A Hunting Trip of the Emperor)

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1889418300638825"
data-ad-slot="7273022922"
data-ad-layout-key="-gw-3+1f-3d+2z"
data-ad-format="fluid"></ins>

Sima Xiangru (around 179 BC to 118 BC), Han nationality, was born in the State of Shu (now part

[9,2851

post-9904","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-chinese-culture","category-people
["GET
