He is said to be a prominent military strategist and statesman of ancient China. He was a representative of a militaristic ideology and led an uprising in the late Qin Dynasty. His uncle Xiang Liang initiated the Huiji Uprising in the late Qin Dynasty and largely eliminated the Qin force in a defining battle called the Battle of Julu, in 207 BC. He proclaimed himself the Hegemon-King of the Western Chu in charge of the Yellow River and nine provinces south of the Yangtze River, including Liang and Chu, following Qin&#8217;s collapse. However, he was defeated by Liu Bang, King of Han in the Chu-Han contention, resulting in his suicide in Wujiang (now He county, Anhui province). His valiance is said to be second to none (People refer to him as &ldquo;the sole valiant&rdquo;).
