With his ancestral origin in Jiaying Prefecture, Guangdong, Hong was born in Fuyuanshui Village, Huaxian County (present-day Huadu District, Guangzhou), Guangdong. In the Daoguang period, Hong failed in the imperial examinations again and again. Absorbing the idea of equality in the early Christian doctrine, he established the God Worshippers and wrote Yuandao Jiushi Ge (A Song on the Origin of Tao and Salvation), in which Hong advocated establishing a realm of “the world for all” like the one in time immemorial.
Major achievement(s): establishing the God Worshippers; leading the Taiping Rebellion

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1889418300638825"
data-ad-slot="7273022922"
data-ad-layout-key="-gw-3+1f-3d+2z"
data-ad-format="fluid"></ins>

Hong Xiuquan (January 1, 1814 – June 1, 1864), former name Hong Renkun, was a Hakka Chinese who established

[9,2851
46
post-9989","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-chinese-culture","category-people","tag-examination
["GET
