More  than 12,000 houses have been toppled and 30,000 damaged in the <strong>quake zone(\u5730\u9707\u707e\u533a).<\/strong> The quake has also <strong>cut(\u5207\u65ad) traffic(\u4ea4\u901a), electricity(\u7535\u8def) and telecommunications(\u901a\u8baf)<\/strong> in Ludian County.<\/p>\n<p>Aftershocks have triggered <strong>landslides(\u6ed1\u5761)<\/strong> and <strong>cracked(\u6467\u6bc1)<\/strong> many bridges, forcing <strong>rescuers(\u6551\u63f4\u4eba\u5458)<\/strong> to <strong>walk on foot(\u6b65\u884c)<\/strong> to the <strong>quake-hit area(\u5730\u9707\u707e\u533a).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The landslides <strong>blocked(\u5835\u585e)<\/strong> a river in Ho<em><\/em>ngshiyan Village, forming a <strong>barrier lake(\u5830\u585e\u6e56)<\/strong> that <strong>threatens(\u5a01\u80c1)<\/strong> 800 villagers.<\/p>\n<p>Local authorities have <strong>dispatched(\u6d3e\u51fa)<\/strong> more than 7,000 rescuers to the quake zone, including <strong>troops(\u519b\u961f),<\/strong>  police officers, fire-fighters and government officials.
