The brocade weaving skills have been passed on for more than two thousand years in this area. Shujin refers to the brocade produced in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, and the earliest written records a<em><\/em>bout it can be traced back to the years under the reign of King Huiwen of Qin in the Spring and Autumn Period. In the Warring States Period, shujin became an im<em><\/em>portant tradable product. It emerged in Qin and Han dynasties and reached its peak in Tang and Song dynasties and began to decline in late years of Ming Dynasty. In mid-late Qing Dynasty, it regained significant development, but sank into crisis o<em><\/em>nce again in modern times. After the founding of the People&rsquo;s Republic of China, shujin achieved marked success for a time. But along with the progress of industrialization, manual weaving machines were replaced by modern ones, and shujin displayed a tendency of co<em><\/em>ntraction and decline.<br \/>  \u4e0e\u82b1\u697c\u7ec7\u673a\u878d\u5408\u5728\u4e00\u8d77\u7684\u8700\u9526\u7ec7\u9020\u6280\u827a\uff0c\u4ece\u7eb9\u6837\u8bbe\u8ba1\u3001\u6311\u82b1\u7ed3\u672c\u5230\u633d\u82b1\u5de5\u3001\u7ec7\u5de5\u5408\u4f5c\u751f\u4ea7\uff0c\u4e00\u76f4\u79c9\u627f\u53e4\u8001\u7684\u4f20\u7edf\u3002\u5176\u540e\u66ff\u4ee3\u4f20\u7edf\u7ec7\u9526\u7684\u6709\u68ad\u673a\u68b0\u7ec7\u673a\uff0c\u5176\u6280\u827a\u539f\u7406\u4e0e\u4e4b\u76f8\u540c\u3002<br \/>  In co<em><\/em>njunction with hualou weaving machine, the shujin weaving skills, have always adhered to ancient traditions in terms of pattern design, cross-stitch work for forming decorative patterns and cooperation between thread pullers and weavers. The modern mechanical shuttle weaving machines that replaced the traditio<em><\/em>nal weaving machines have the same technical principles.<br \/>  \u8700\u9526\u662f\u6210\u90fd\u7684\u6807\u5fd7\u6027\u6280\u827a\uff0c\u6210\u90fd\u4ee5\u76db\u4ea7\u9526\u800c\u83b7\u5f97&ldquo;\u9526\u57ce&rdquo;\u3001&ldquo;\u9526\u5b98\u57ce&rdquo;\u7684\u7f8e\u540d\u3002\u5cb7\u6c5f\u73af\u7ed5\u6210\u90fd\uff0c\u8700\u9526\u6fef\u4e8e\u6c5f\u6c34\uff0c\u6545\u5cb7\u6c5f\u53c8\u79f0&ldquo;\u9526\u6c5f&rdquo;\u3002\u8700\u9526\u690d\u6839\u4e8e\u8700\u6587\u5316\uff0c\u6709\u7740\u9c9c\u660e\u7684\u5730\u57df\u7279\u8272\u3002\u65e9\u5728\u79e6\u6c49\u4e09\u56fd\u65f6\u671f\uff0c\u8700\u9526\u5df2\u8d70\u51fa\u56db\u5ddd\uff0c\u8fdb\u5165\u5c11\u6570\u6c11\u65cf\u5730\u533a\uff0c\u4e3a\u7ecf\u6d4e\u53d1\u5c55\u3001\u793e\u4f1a\u7a33\u5b9a\u548c\u6c11\u65cf\u56e2\u7ed3\u4f5c\u51fa\u4e86\u8d21\u732e\u3002\u5b83\u5728\u4e3e\u4e16\u95fb\u540d\u7684\u5357\u5317&ldquo;\u4e1d\u7ef8\u4e4b\u8def&rdquo;\u4e2d\u4f5c\u4e3a\u6587\u5316\u4ea4\u6d41\u53ca\u8d38\u6613\u7684\u8f7d\u4f53\u89c1\u8bc1\u4e86\u5386\u53f2\uff0c\u5177\u6709\u72ec\u7279\u7684\u6587\u5316\u4ef7\u503c\u3002\u91c7\u53d6\u5207\u5b9e\u63aa\u65bd\u786e\u4fdd\u8700\u9526\u7684\u4f20\u627f\u662f\u5f53\u52a1\u4e4b\u6025\uff0c\u5e0c\u671b\u6709\u5173\u65b9\u9762\u5bf9\u6b64\u52a0\u4ee5\u91cd\u89c6\u3002<br \/>  As shujin was a landmark skill of Chengdu and produced in large quantities here, Chengdu was thus acclaimed as &ldquo;Jin Cheng (Brocade City)&rdquo; and &ldquo;Jin Guan Cheng (Brocade Official&rsquo;s City)&rdquo;. As Minjiang River runs through Chengdu and shujin was o<em><\/em>nce washed in this river, Minjiang River is also called &ldquo;Jinjiang&rdquo; (Brocade River). Rooted in Shu culture, shujin has distinctive regio<em><\/em>nal characteristics. As early as in Qin and Han dynasties and the Three Kingdoms period, shujin had been spread to areas inhibited by minority natio<em><\/em>nalities and co<em><\/em>ntributed to eco<em><\/em>nomic development, social stability and natio<em><\/em>nal unity. On the world famous north-south &ldquo;Silk Road&rdquo;, it was taken as the carrier of cultural exchange and trade and as the witness of history, thus possessing unique cultural value.
