He was born in Meng, the State of Song but he was actually a descendent of King Zhuang of the Chu. As one of the main initiators of Taoism, he and the first Taoist Laozi are called &quot;Lao Zhuang&quot; while their philosophic ideology is respectfully titled as The Philosophy of Lao Zhuang in ideological circles.
