A harmonious picture of mountains, sea and city is painted in which one can see the winding coastline, islands and beautiful buildings whose red-roofs are held in the embrace of verdant trees. Many of the European-style buildings used to be home to many famous figures.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<strong>Zhanqiao Pier: \uff08\u6808\u6865\uff0czh&agrave;n qi&aacute;o\uff09<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>  \tZhanqiao Pier, built in 1891, is the symbol of Qingdao. After several restorations, from being a simple military harbor, it is now open to tourists. The pier is 440 meters long. There is an octagonal pagoda of distinctive Chinese style, called &ldquo; Huilan Pagoda&rdquo;, at the end of the pier. From the top, tourists can fully view the Maganificent Sea. Along the shore is the beautiful Pier Park, which is a pleasant and quiet place for tourists to rest or enjoy the scenery of Little Qingdao Island and its white tower.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<strong>Catholic Church\uff08\u5929\u4e3b\u6559\u5802\uff0cti\u0101nzh\u01d4ji&agrave;ot&aacute;n\u0261\uff09<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>  \tLocated on Zhejiang Road, the Catholic Church, originally named St.Michael&rsquo;s, was built by the Germans in 1934. The 60-meter-high building, covering 2470sq.m, is one of China famous Catholic Churches.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<strong>Badaguan (Eight Great Passes) \uff08\u516b\u5927\u5173\uff0cb&aacute;d&agrave;\u0261u\u0101n\uff09<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>  \tLying between Huiquan Cape and Taiping Cape, Badaguan faces the rippling Taiping Bay. In the Badaguan area, more than 200 villas of exotic style are scattered among the lush old-growth flora. There are so many villas that the scenic spot is considered a World Architecture Museum. Criss-crossing the scenic area are ten roads built in 1931 and lined with many varieties of trees including peaches, crabapples, pine trees and ginkgo. Eight of the roads are named after the eight great passes of the Great Wall, hence the name Badaguan.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>  \t<strong>May 4th Square: \uff08\u4e94\u56db\u5e7f\u573a\uff0cw\u01d4s&igrave;\u0261u&aacute;n\u0261ch\u01cen\u0261\uff09<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>  \tThis square is named to honor the May 4th Movement which took place in 1919. Consisting of two squares and a park, the area is decorated with statues and fountains and surrounded by pine trees, meadows, and flowers. It has become the symbol of modern Qingdao.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<strong>Laoshan Scenic Area(\u5d02\u5c71,L&aacute;o sh\u0101n)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>  \tThe Laoshan Scenic Area was one of China&rsquo;s first major scenic resorts to receive the approval of the State Council. It holds an important position in Qingdao&rsquo;s tourism industry. The acceleration of its natural landscape development and improved access to its cultural facilities is an important component of the city&rsquo;s Olympic endeavors.
