Look at sb. with new eyes — treat sb. with increased respect<\/p>\n

Lü Meng was a general of the state of Wu during the Three Kingdoms Period (220-180). Born in a poor family, he did not have the chance to go to school when he was a child. When he was grown, he joined the army, and there was even less time for reading.<\/p>\n

Once, the king of Wu summo<\/em>ned Lü and said to him, "You’re a big general now. You’d better read some books to widen your horizons."<\/p>\n

"I am so busy with military work," Lü replied. "I’m afraid I have little time to read."<\/p>\n

"Are you busier than I am?" the king said. "Even I find time to read books on the art of war, and they’ve benefited me greatly. Read more a<\/em>bout the experience of our predecessors. You’ll make greater progress."<\/p>\n

Accepting the king’s advice, Lü set a<\/em>bout reading history and military writings. One day, chief commander Lu Su visited Lü Meng. Lu Su had looked down on Lü Meng in the past. He was surprised to find Lü had become so knowledgeable.<\/p>\n

"I thought you o<\/em>nly knew how to fight!" Lu Su said. "You are not the Lü Meng you used to be."<\/p>\n

"You should always look at a person with fresh eyes – even if you’ve o<\/em>nly been apart three days," Lü Meng replied.<\/p>\n

Lü Meng’s remarks inspired the idiom "gu\u0101 mù xi\u0101ng kàn", or "gu\u0101 mù xi\u0101ng dài". It’s used to express asto<\/em>nishment by others’ fabulous progress or improvement and increased respect for him or her.<\/p>\n

       \u4e09\u56fd\u65f6\u671f\uff08220\uff0d280\uff09\uff0c\u5434\u56fd\u6709\u4e00\u4e2a\u53eb\u5415\u8499\u7684\u5c06\u519b\u3002\u5415\u8499\u51fa\u751f\u5728\u7a77\u82e6\u4eba\u5bb6\uff0c\u5c0f\u65f6\u5019\u6ca1\u6709\u673a\u4f1a\u4e0a\u5b66\u3002\u957f\u5927\u540e\uff0c\u4ed6\u53c2\u4e86\u519b\uff0c\u770b\u4e66\u7684\u65f6\u95f4\u66f4\u5c11\u4e86\u3002<\/p>\n

       \u4e00\u6b21\uff0c\u5434\u56fd\u7684\u7687\u5e1d\u53ec\u89c1\u5415\u8499\uff0c\u5bf9\u4ed6\u8bf4\uff1a“\u73b0\u5728\u4f60\u662f\u5927\u5c06\u519b\u4e86\uff0c\u5e94\u8be5\u591a\u770b\u770b\u4e66\u5f00\u9614\u773c\u754c\u3002”<\/p>\n

       \u5415\u8499\u56de\u7b54\u9053\uff1a“\u519b\u4e2d\u7684\u4e8b\u52a1\u8fd9\u4e48\u5fd9\uff0c\u6211\u6050\u6015\u6ca1\u6709\u65f6\u95f4\u8bfb\u4e66\u3002”<\/p>\n

       \u5434\u56fd\u7684\u7687\u5e1d\u8bf4\uff1a“\u4f60\u96be\u9053\u6bd4\u6211\u8fd8\u5fd9\u5417\uff1f\u6211\u5e38\u5e38\u62bd\u7a7a\u9605\u8bfb\u5175\u4e66\uff0c\u4ece\u4e2d\u5f97\u5230\u4e86\u4e0d\u5c11\u597d\u5904\u3002\u591a\u770b\u770b\u524d\u4eba\u7684\u7ecf\u9a8c\u4e4b\u8c08\uff0c\u4f60\u4f1a\u6709\u66f4\u5927\u7684\u8fdb\u6b65\u3002”<\/p>\n

       \u5415\u8499\u63a5\u53d7\u4e86\u7687\u5e1d\u7684\u5efa\u8bae\uff0c\u4ece\u6b64\u5f00\u59cb\u4e13\u5fc3\u9605\u8bfb\uff0c\u770b\u4e86\u5f88\u591a\u5386\u53f2\u548c\u519b\u4e8b\u4e66\u7c4d\u3002\u4e00\u5929\uff0c\u4e3b\u5e05\u9c81\u8083\u6765\u62dc\u8bbf\u5415\u8499\uff0c\u60ca\u8bb6\u5730\u53d1\u73b0\u5415\u8499\u53d8\u5f97\u5f88\u6709\u5b66\u95ee\u3002\u66fe\u7ecf\u975e\u5e38\u8f7b\u89c6\u5415\u8499\u7684\u9c81\u8083\u8bf4\uff1a“\u6211\u4ee5\u4e3a\u4f60\u53ea\u4f1a\u6253\u4ed7\uff0c\u6ca1\u60f3\u5230\u4f60\u8fd9\u4e48\u535a\u5b66\u3002\u4f60\u5df2\u7ecf\u4e0d\u662f\u8fc7\u53bb\u7684\u90a3\u4e2a\u5415\u8499\u4e86\uff01”<\/p>\n

       \u5415\u8499\u56de\u7b54\u9053\uff1a“\u5373\u4f7f\u4f60\u548c\u522b\u4eba\u53ea\u5206\u5f00\u4e86\u4e09\u5929\uff0c\u4e09\u5929\u540e\u518d\u9047\u5230\u4ed6\u65f6\uff0c\u4e5f\u4e0d\u80fd\u7528\u4e09\u5929\u524d\u7684\u8001\u773c\u5149\u6765\u770b\u5f85\u4ed6\u3002”<\/p>\n

       \u6211\u4eec\u4ece\u5415\u8499\u7684\u8bdd\u4e2d\u5f97\u5230\u4e86\u6210\u8bed“\u522e\u76ee\u76f8\u770b”\uff0c\u4e5f\u53eb“\u522e\u76ee\u76f8\u5f85”\uff0c\u7528\u5b83\u6765\u5f62\u5bb9\u522b\u4eba\u6709\u4e86\u5f88\u5927\u7684\u8fdb\u6b65\uff0c\u8981\u7528\u65b0\u7684\u773c\u5149\u6765\u770b\u5f85\u3002<\/p>\n
