S: W\u01d2 shì Stuart. ML, last lesson you said you like horse riding. \u5728\u4e0a\u4e00\u8bfe\u4f60\u8bf4\u4f60\u5f88\u559c\u6b22\u9a91\u9a6c\uff0czài shàng yí kè, n\u01d0 shu\u014d n\u01d0 h\u011bn x\u01d0huan qí m\u01ce.<\/p>\n

M: Duì, w\u01d2 h\u011bn x\u01d0huan qí m\u01ce.<\/p>\n

S: Remember this \u9a91 QI qí? Duì le. Ride a bike, \u9a91\u81ea\u884c\u8f66 qí zìxíngch\u0113, or, simply, \u9a91\u8f66 qí ch\u0113. Ride a horse, qí m\u01ce.<\/p>\n

M: Now, more of our 12 lunar calendar dòngwù.<\/p>\n

S: Guess what the next one is. And try to pick out the word for ‘hill’. ML will now say, On the hill are ten something something. (baa baa sound)<\/p>\n

M: \u5c71\u4e0a\u6709\u5341\u53ea\u7f8a\u3000sh\u0101n shang yóu shí zh\u012b yáng.<\/p>\n

S: So what is a hill? Duì le! \u5c71 SHAN sh\u0101n. It also means ‘mountain’. Listen for the measure word when ML says, On that hill, or mountain.<\/p>\n

M: \u5728\u90a3\u5ea7\u5c71\u4e0a zài nà zuò sh\u0101nshang.<\/p>\n

S: Hear it? It’s \u5ea7 ZUO zuò, and it’s used for big things, like hills, mountains and bridges. Now, back to our animals.<\/p>\n

M: \u5728\u90a3\u5ea7\u5c71\u4e0a\u6709\u5341\u53ea\u7f8a\u3000zài nà zuò sh\u0101n shang y\u01d2u shí zh\u012b yáng.<\/p>\n

S: shí zh\u012b yáng. Guessed it? Yes, shí zh\u012b yáng is ten sheep. \u7f8a YANG yáng, sheep. The measure word is again zh\u012b.<\/p>\n

M: Now say with me, \u5728\u90a3\u5ea7\u5c71\u4e0a\u6709\u4e03\u53ea\u7f8a\u3000zài nà zuò sh\u0101n shang y\u01d2u q\u012b zh\u012b yáng.<\/p>\n

S: Ti\u0101n a! We’ve lost three sheep. S\u0101n zh\u012b yáng di\u016b le!<\/p>\n

S: That was a nice break! By the way, this is a good time to learn ‘goat’. Since you’ve learnt sh\u0101n and yáng, you’ve learnt ‘goat’. ML will now say, on the hill are six goats.<\/p>\n

M: \u5c71\u4e0a\u6709\u516d\u53ea\u5c71\u7f8a sh\u0101n shang y\u01d2u liù zh\u012b sh\u0101nyáng.<\/p>\n

S: ‘Goat’, easy, sh\u0101nyáng, literally, mountain, or hill, sheep. Sh\u0101nyáng. And, as with yáng, we use zh\u012b, so five goats, w\u01d4 zh\u012b sh\u0101nyáng.<\/p>\n

M: Xiànzài, dì ji\u01d4 gè dòngwù.<\/p>\n

S: The most im<\/em>portant, because I was born in the year of this animal. ML will now say, On, or in, the tree are eight something something.<\/p>\n

M: \u6811\u4e0a\u6709\u516b\u53ea\u7334\u5b50 shù shang y\u01d2u b\u0101 zh\u012b hóuzi.<\/p>\n

S: b\u0101 zh\u012b hóuzi. What is a hóuzi? Duìle. Monkey! \u7334\u5b50 HOU ZI hóuzi. So everybody say, I like monkeys. Méi cuò. \u6211\u559c\u6b22\u7334\u5b50 w\u01d2 x\u01d0huan hóuzi.<\/p>\n

S: To finish, listen and repeat….<\/p>\n

M: \u5728\u90a3\u5ea7\u5c71\u4e0a\u6709\u5341\u53ea\u7f8a, zài nà zuò sh\u0101n shang y\u01d2u shí zh\u012b yáng.<\/p>\n
