In this Pinyin Lesson, we learn how to pro<\/em>nounce three initials, which are g, k, h. We also learn some Chinese characters that use “g, k, h”. In addition you can have tone drill and quiz.<\/p>\n

Initials<\/h3>\n

Initials are called \u58f0\u6bcd in simplified Chinese (pinyin: sh\u0113ngm\u01d4). There are 21 initials excluding y and w.<\/p>\n

The co<\/em>nventional order is:
b, p, m, f; d, t, ,n, l; g, k, h; j, q, x; zh, ch, sh, r; z, c, s<\/p>\n

Pro<\/em>nunciation Guide for g, k, h<\/h3>\n

The letters b, d, and g are really the un-aspirated versions of p, t, and k. This means that they are pro<\/em>nounced in the way the letters p, t, and k are pro<\/em>nounced after the letter s (as in spy, sty, and sky).<\/p>\n

The following guide is given in terms of English pronunciation. They are approximate, as there are some sounds of Pinyin do not correspond directly to sounds in English.<\/p>\n

1.\tg: as the k in “skate”, or g in “gate”.<\/p>\n
