Serving as a Prefect of Sishui during the Qin Dynasty and later rising to prominence in Pei (today Pei County, Jiangsu province), Liu Bang was addressed as "Duke of Pei". He was also granted the title "King of the Han" following Qin’s demise. Later, he defeated Xiangyu, hegemonic king of the Western Chu in the Chu-Han contention, becoming the founding emperor of the Western Han Dynasty. His temple name was Gaozu, which was changed to Taizu during the reign of Emperor Jing of the Han. Since Sima Qian’s period, the period of Emperor Wu of the Han, he has been more often referred to "Gaozu" as his temple name. Plus his posthumous name is Emperor Gao, so he is also known as Emperor Gaozu of the Han, Emperor Gao Taizu or Emperor Gao of the Han. He has made a defining contribution to the unification of the Han Nationality, the strengthening of China and to the protection as well as the promotion of Han culture.
Major achievement: the founding of the Han Dynasty
Representative works: Song of the Great Wall and Song of a Large Swan

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;" data-ad-client="ca-pub-1889418300638825"
data-ad-slot="7273022922"
data-ad-layout-key="-gw-3+1f-3d+2z"
data-ad-format="fluid"></ins>

Emperor Gaozu, Liu Bang (256 BC – 1 June 195 BC), courtesy named Ji (some others also refer Ji

[9,2851
118
post-9911","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-chinese-culture","category-people","tag-culture
["GET
