S: \u554a\uff0c\u4ed6\u662f\u5927\u592b ta1 shi4 dai4fu.<\/p>\n

S: One new thing. The measure word for hospital is \u5bb6jia1. This hospital\uff0c\u8fd9 (zhe) \u5bb6\u533b\u9662, or, zhei4 jia1 yi1yuan4.<\/p>\n

M: And \u4f4d\uff0cWEI, fourth tone, wei4, is used as the measure word for people such as doctors, nurses, teachers, etc. So, what does this mean: \u90a3\u5bb6\u533b\u9662\u6709\u4e00\u767e\u4f4d\u533b\u751f\u548c\u56db\u767e\u4e94\u5341\u4f4d\u62a4\u58eb na4 jia1 yi1yuan4 you3 yi4 bai3 wei4 dai4fu he2 si4 bai3 wu3 shi2 wei4 hu4shi.<\/p>\n

S: Dui4 le. That hospital has one hundred doctors and four hundred and fifty nurses.<\/p>\n

M: \u90a3\u597d\uff0c\u56e0\u4e3a\u6211\u751f\u75c5\u4e86 that’s good, cos I’m ill. na4 hao3, yin1wei2 wo3 sheng1bing4 le.<\/p>\n

S: Now, remembering that ‘work’ or ‘job’ is \u5de5\u4f5cgong1zuo4, how do you ask, What job do you do?<\/p>\n

M: Hen3 hao3. \u4f60\u662f\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\u5de5\u4f5c\u7684 ni3 shi4 zuo4 shen2me gong1zuo4 de?<\/p>\n

S: We also learnt to say ‘wife’, which is? Mei2 cuo4. \u59bb\u5b50 QI ZI qi1zi3. So everybody say, He is a doctor, his wife is a nurse.<\/p>\n

M: Fei1chang2 hao3. \u4ed6\u662f\u533b\u751f\uff0c\u4ed6\u7684\u59bb\u5b50\u662f\u62a4\u58eb ta1 shi4 yi1sheng, ta1 de qi1zi3 shi4 hu4shi.<\/p>\n

S: And what does this mean? \u6211\u7684\u7231\u4eba\u5f88\u6f02\u4eae wo3 de ai4ren2 hen3 piao4liang4.<\/p>\n

M: Dui4le. My wife, husband or sweetheart, is very pretty. Em, I suppose handsome would be a better word to use for husband. Never mind.<\/p>\n

S: Now say, My sweetheart, or wife or hubby, is at the hospital.<\/p>\n

M: Dui4le. \u6211\u7684\u7231\u4eba\u5728\u533b\u9662 wo3 de ai4ren2 zai4 yi1yuan4.<\/p>\n

S: \u90a3\u4e0d\u65b9\u4fbf remember\u65b9\u4fbf? Yes, convenient, fang1bian.<\/p>\n

M: So everybody say, That’s very convenient. Mei2 cuo4, \u90a3\u5f88\u65b9\u4fbf na4 hen3 fang1bian.<\/p>\n

S: Now say, That’s very inconvenient. Hen3 hao3. \u90a3\u5f88\u4e0d\u65b9\u4fbf na4 hen3 bu4 fang1bian.<\/p>\n

S: Before we go, what are primary school, middle school and university?<\/p>\n
