The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the 29th Olympiad (BOCOG) seleced 297 beauties from a dozen Beijing colleges to act as the hostesses of the awarding ceremonies.<\/p>\n

The ceremo<\/em>nies has been designed with many traditio<\/em>nal Chinese elements. The hostesses has been trained to be beauties both inside and outside. The young women, with a classical Chinese temperament, will send messages of Chinese implicit beauty in each simple move as taught in the classes. Their silk costumes are also designed with traditio<\/em>nal Chinese cultural images such as blue-and-white porcelain, embroidery and jade. <\/p>\n

The outfits and accessories to be worn at the Olympic medal ceremo<\/em>nies were unveiled in Beijing on 17th July 2008. Five series of costumes will be worn by the hostesses at the total of 302 medal ceremonies.<\/p>\n

Each series was designed for certain sport events and each costume features three styles of outfits – tray holders, medal presenter escorts and athlete escorts.<\/p>\n

– “Royal blue” (\u5b9d\u84dd b\u01ceolán)- designed for medal ceremo<\/em>nies in gymnastics, indoor ball games (including table tennis) and fencing. <\/p>\n

– “Sophora green” (\u56fd\u69d0\u7eff guóhuái l\u01dc) – designed for medal ceremo<\/em>nies in cycling, shooting, modern pentathlon. <\/p>\n

– “Grease white” (\u7389\u8102\u767d yùzh\u012b bái) – designed for medal ceremo<\/em>nies in the Natio<\/em>nal Stadium, outdoor ball games and equestrianism in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

– “Pink” (\u7c89\u7ea2 f\u011bn hóng) – designed for medal ceremo<\/em>nies in sports requiring power and energy, such as boxing, weightlifting and wrestling. This feminine and graceful color could make a neutralizing effect to these masculine sports.<\/p>\n
