Born in the State of Wei (now Huangliangzhuang town, Anyang city, Henan province) and with the support of Duke Xiao of Qin, Yang enacted numerous reforms while creating a militarily powerful and stro<em><\/em>ngly centralized kingdom. Deeply despised by the Qin nobility and distrusted by King Huiwen, Yang was said to have been executed by being fastened to five chariots and torn to pieces following the death of Duke Xiao of Qin.
