Even Though"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The English although or even though is used to combine two phrases which form a co<em><\/em>ntrast e.g. Although he is tall, he does not play basketball.<\/p>\n<p>  This same sentence structure is used in Mandarin Chinese, with a slightly different construction.<\/p>\n<p>  The Mandarin translation of although and even though is:<\/p>\n<p>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; su\u012b r&aacute;n<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u96d6\u7136 (trad)<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u867d\u7136] (simp) <\/p>\n<p>  Mandarin phrases which use su\u012b r&aacute;n are followed by a co<em><\/em>ntrasting phrase which begins with d&agrave;n sh&igrave; or k\u011b sh&igrave;, both of which translate as but. <\/p>\n<p>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; d&agrave;n sh&igrave;<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u4f46\u662f<\/p>\n<p>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; k\u011b sh&igrave;<br \/>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u53ef\u662f <\/p>\n<p>  Therefore, the co<em><\/em>nstruction of the Mandarin &ldquo;although&rdquo; sentence is:<\/p>\n<p>  &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Su\u012b r&aacute;n (phrase one), d&agrave;n sh&igrave; (phrase two).<\/p>\n<p>  The su\u012b r&aacute;n phrase must come before the d&agrave;n sh&igrave; phrase, even though in English the two phrases may sometimes be reversed.<br \/>  Examples of Sui Ran &hellip;
