History
The Southern and Northern Dynasties (nán b\u011bi cháo \u5357\u5317\u671d)(420-589) refer to the period of more than one hundred years from the decline of the Eastern Jin (d\u014dng jìn \u4e1c\u664b) (317- 420) to the foundation of the Sui Dynasty (suí cháo \u968b\u671d) (581-618). It was an age of civil war and political co<\/em>nfrontation between two powers, one in the north and the other in the south. However, it was also a time of flourishing in the arts and culture. Created orally by people in the wake of Yuefu So<\/em>ngs (yuè f\u01d4 \u4e50\u5e9c), Folk So<\/em>ngs of the Northern and Southern Dynasties (nán b\u011bi cháo mín g\u0113 \u5357\u5317\u671d\u6c11\u6b4c) has also played an im<\/em>portant role in both Chinese music and literature. <\/p>\n

the Ode to XizhouFolk So<\/em>ngs of the Southern Dynasties
So<\/em>ngs of this genre are mostly love so<\/em>ngs which reflect the sincere and pure love life of people. They are often sung by women with refreshing and touching appeal, which possibly has a direct relation with the beautiful enviro<\/em>nment and rich co<\/em>ndition of the south. Most of the folk so<\/em>ngs belong to the 4-line poems with 5 characters in each line. Moreover, pun is often used in folk songs.<\/p>\n

Appreciation
The Ode to Xizhou (x\u012b zh\u014du q\u01d4 \u897f\u6d32\u66f2) is the representative work of Folk So<\/em>ngs of the Southern Dynasties. The main theme is that the heroine’s lover hadn’t come back home, so she went to gather lotus to divert herself from lo<\/em>neliness and boredom. At a distance from the lake, both of them were lovesick apart. Finally, she begged the wind to bring her dream to Xizhou wher her lover was staying.

Folk So<\/em>ngs of the Northern Dynasties
Folk So<\/em>ngs of the Northern Dynasties were mostly created by ethnic groups and reflected the society and their lives from every profile. Besides the theme co<\/em>ncerning warfare, most folk so<\/em>ngs of the Northern Dynasties describe scenery of the north and the people’s nomadic life, thus manifesting straightforward complexion of Northerners which has a clear co<\/em>ntrast with those of the Southern Dynasties.<\/p>\n

Appreciation
As the Northern Dynasties were often at wars, the long narrative poem The Ballad of Mulan(mù lán cí \u6728\u5170\u8f9e) is the best-known work of that period.
The Ballad of Mulan describes the heroine Mulan who was brave, smart and high-minded. In the ode, Hua Mulan (hu\u0101 mù lán \u82b1\u6728\u5170) disguised as man and joined the army, replacing her father to fight against the enemies. At that time in a feudal society, women were universally regarded to be inferior to men. So this poem had its special significance. The story a<\/em>bout Hua Mulan’s enlistment has maintained its great popularity among people and has been adapted for the screen and the stage. <\/p>\n

In all, Folk So<\/em>ngs of the Northern and Southern Dynasties had great influences on poets of the Tang Dynasty (táng cháo \u5510\u671d) (618-907).<\/p>\n

    The Ballad of Mulan \u5357\u5317\u671d\u6c11\u6b4c\u73b0\u5b58\u4e94\u767e\u591a\u9996\u3002\u5357\u5317\u671d\u957f\u671f\u5bf9\u5cd9\u7684\u5c40\u9762\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u4e24\u5730\u5728\u6c11\u65cf\u98ce\u5c1a\u3001\u81ea\u7136\u73af\u5883\u7b49\u65b9\u9762\u5b58\u5728\u7684\u5dee\u5f02\uff0c\u5357\u5317\u671d\u6c11\u6b4c\u5448\u73b0\u51fa\u4e0d\u540c\u7684\u60c5\u8c03\u4e0e\u98ce\u683c\u3002\u5927\u62b5\u5357\u65b9\u6c11\u6b4c\u6e05\u4e3d\u7f20\u7ef5\uff0c\u5317\u65b9\u6c11\u6b4c\u6734\u76f4\u521a\u5065\u3002\u300a\u897f\u6d32\u66f2\u300b\u548c\u300a\u6728\u5170\u8f9e\u300b\uff0c\u5206\u522b\u4ee3\u8868\u7740\u5357\u5317\u671d\u6c11\u6b4c\u7684\u6700\u9ad8\u6210\u5c31\u3002
     \u5357\u671d\u4e50\u5e9c\u6c11\u6b4c\u7bc7\u5e45\u77ed\u5c0f\uff0c\u591a\u4e3a\u4e94\u8a00\u56db\u53e5\u3002\u8bed\u8a00\u6e05\u65b0\u81ea\u7136\uff0c\u6b63\u5982\u300a\u5927\u5b50\u591c\u6b4c\u300b\u6240\u8bf4\uff1a“\u6177\u6168\u5410\u6e05\u97f3\uff0c\u660e\u8f6c\u51fa\u5929\u7136\u3002”\u5357\u671d\u6c11\u6b4c\u5728\u8bed\u8a00\u4e0a\u6700\u663e\u8457\u7684\u7279\u8272\uff0c\u662f\u5927\u91cf\u8fd0\u7528\u53cc\u5173\u9690\u8bed\uff0c\u5982\u4ee5“\u85d5”\u53cc\u5173“\u5076”\uff0c“\u83b2”\u53cc\u5173“\u601c”\uff0c“\u4e1d”\u53cc\u5173“\u601d”\uff0c\u4ee5\u5e03\u5339\u4e4b“\u5339”\u53cc\u5173\u5339\u914d\u4e4b“\u5339”\uff0c\u9ec4\u8fde\u4e4b“\u82e6”\u53cc\u5173\u76f8\u601d\u4e4b“\u82e6”\u7b49\u3002\u4e0d\u4ec5\u4f7f\u8bed\u8a00\u6d3b\u6cfc\u6d41\u7545\uff0c\u800c\u4e14\u4f7f\u60c5\u601d\u7684\u8868\u8fbe\u66f4\u52a0\u59d4\u5a49\u542b\u84c4\u3002
     \u300a\u897f\u6d32\u66f2\u300b\u662f\u5357\u671d\u4e50\u5e9c\u6c11\u6b4c\u4e2d\u7684\u6770\u4f5c\uff0c\u4e5f\u662f\u6700\u957f\u7684\u4e00\u9996\u6292\u60c5\u8bd7\u3002\u4f5c\u54c1\u901a\u8fc7\u5b63\u8282\u53d8\u6362\uff0c\u5c42\u5c42\u9012\u8fdb\u5730\u8868\u73b0\u4e86\u4e00\u4f4d\u5c11\u5973\u4ece\u6625\u5230\u79cb\u5bf9\u8fdc\u65b9\u60c5\u4eba\u7684\u6df1\u5207\u601d\u5ff5\u4e4b\u60c5\u3002\u8bed\u8a00\u4f18\u7f8e\uff0c\u60c5\u611f\u7f20\u7ef5\uff0c\u7b14\u89e6\u7ec6\u817b\u3002\u5168\u8bd7\u4e09\u5341\u4e8c\u53e5\uff0c\u56db\u53e5\u4e00\u8f6c\u97f5\uff0c\u6d41\u5229\u5b9b\u8f6c\uff0c\u58f0\u60c5\u548c\u8c10\u3002
      \u5317\u671d\u4e50\u5e9c\u6c11\u6b4c\u8bed\u8a00\u8d28\u6734\u521a\u5065\uff0c\u98ce\u683c\u7c97\u72b7\u8c6a\u653e\uff0c\u81ea\u7136\u6e05\u65b0\u3002\u591a\u6742\u8a00\u683c\u5f0f\u800c\u4ee5\u4e94\u8a00\u4e3a\u4e3b\u3002\u5317\u671d\u4e50\u5e9c\u6c11\u6b4c\u6570\u91cf\u867d\u7136\u4e0d\u591a\uff0c\u9898\u6750\u5374\u6bd4\u8f83\u5e7f\u6cdb\u3002\u4e3b\u8981\u6709\u4ee5\u4e0b\u51e0\u65b9\u9762\u5185\u5bb9\uff1a\u4e00\u662f\u63cf\u5199\u4e86\u5317\u65b9\u7684\u58ee\u4e3d\u5c71\u5ddd\u548c\u6e38\u7267\u751f\u6d3b\u3002\u4e8c\u662f\u8868\u73b0\u4e86\u5317\u65b9\u6c11\u65cf\u7c97\u72b7\u8c6a\u8fc8\u7684\u4e2a\u6027\u548c\u8c6a\u4fa0\u5c1a\u6b66\u7684\u7cbe\u795e\u3002\u4e09\u662f\u53cd\u6620\u4e86\u5317\u65b9\u9891\u7e41\u7684\u6218\u4e89\u4ee5\u53ca\u7531\u6b64\u7ed9\u4eba\u6c11\u5e26\u6765\u7684\u79bb\u4e61\u80cc\u4e95\u3001\u6d41\u79bb\u5931\u6240\u7684\u75db\u82e6\u3002\u56db\u662f\u53cd\u6620\u4e86\u5a5a\u59fb\u7231\u60c5\u751f\u6d3b\u3002\u5317\u65b9\u7537\u5973\u5bf9\u5a5a\u59fb\u7231\u60c5\u76f4\u7387\u3001\u5927\u80c6\u3001\u5f00\u653e\u7684\u6001\u5ea6\uff0c\u4e0e\u5357\u671d\u6c11\u6b4c\u7684\u60c5\u8c03\u7f20\u7ef5\u5a49\u8f6c\u5f62\u6210\u9c9c\u660e\u7684\u5bf9\u7167\u3002\u5982\u300a\u6298\u6768\u67f3\u679d\u6b4c\u300b\u5176\u4e8c\uff1a“\u95e8\u524d\u4e00\u682a\u67a3\uff0c\u5c81\u5c81\u4e0d\u77e5\u8001\u3002\u963f\u5a46\u4e0d\u5ac1\u5973\uff0c\u90a3\u5f97\u5b59\u513f\u62b1?”\u300a\u5730\u9a71\u6b4c\u4e50\u8f9e\u300b\u5176\u4e8c\uff1a“\u9a71\u7f8a\u5165\u8c37\uff0c\u767d\u7f8a\u5728\u524d\u3002\u8001\u5973\u4e0d\u5ac1\uff0c\u8e4b\u5730\u547c\u5929\uff01”The Ballad of Mulan
      \u300a\u6728\u5170\u8f9e\u300b\u662f\u5317\u671d\u4e50\u5e9c\u6c11\u6b4c\u4e2d\u6700\u6770\u51fa\u7684\u4f5c\u54c1\uff0c\u8bb2\u8ff0\u4e86\u4e00\u4e2a\u5177\u6709\u4f20\u5947\u8272\u5f69\u7684\u6545\u4e8b\uff0c\u6210\u529f\u5730\u5851\u9020\u4e86\u6728\u5170\u8fd9\u4e00\u4e0d\u673d\u7684\u827a\u672f\u5f62\u8c61\u3002\u5979\u52e4\u52b3\u5584\u826f\uff0c\u70ed\u7231\u548c\u5e73\uff0c\u5f53\u6218\u4e89\u6765\u4e34\uff0c\u51fa\u4e8e\u5bf9\u5e74\u8fc8\u7236\u4eb2\u7684\u5173\u5fc3\u548c\u4fdd\u5bb6\u536b\u56fd\u7684\u51b3\u5fc3\uff0c\u5979\u52c7\u6562\u5730\u51b2\u7834\u5c01\u5efa\u793c\u6559\u7684\u675f\u7f1a\uff0c\u5973\u626e\u7537\u88c5\uff0c\u66ff\u7236\u4ece\u519b\uff0c\u9a70\u9a8b\u7586\u573a\uff0c\u5f81\u6218\u5341\u5e74\u3002\u5f53\u5979\u7acb\u4e0b\u6218\u529f\u4ee5\u540e\uff0c\u53c8\u4e0d\u6155\u8363\u5229\uff0c\u4e0d\u6c42\u5c01\u8d4f\uff0c\u800c\u662f\u6e34\u671b\u56de\u4e61\u4e0e\u5bb6\u4eba\u56e2\u805a\u3002\u5728\u6728\u5170\u8eab\u4e0a\u96c6\u4e2d\u4e86\u4e2d\u534e\u6c11\u65cf\u7684\u82f1\u96c4\u6c14\u6982\u548c\u9ad8\u5c1a\u60c5\u64cd\uff0c\u662f\u53e4\u4ee3\u4eba\u6c11\u7406\u60f3\u7684\u5316\u8eab\u3002\u8fd9\u9996\u6c11\u6b4c\u5728\u827a\u672f\u4e0a\u4e5f\u53d6\u5f97\u4e86\u5f88\u5927\u7684\u6210\u529f\u3002\u9996\u5148\uff0c\u5b83\u5bcc\u4e8e\u4f20\u5947\u8272\u5f69\uff0c\u662f\u73b0\u5b9e\u4e3b\u4e49\u4e0e\u6d6a\u6f2b\u4e3b\u4e49\u7ed3\u5408\u7684\u8303\u4f8b\u3002\u5176\u6b21\uff0c\u51fa\u8272\u5730\u8fd0\u7528\u4e86\u6c11\u6b4c\u5e38\u7528\u7684\u590d\u53e0\u3001\u94fa\u9648\u6392\u6bd4\u7b49\u827a\u672f\u6280\u5de7\uff0c\u6bd4\u55bb\u3001\u5bf9\u5076\u3001\u53cd\u886c\u3001\u9876\u771f\u7b49\u4fee\u8f9e\u624b\u6cd5\uff0c\u589e\u5f3a\u4e86\u827a\u672f\u6548\u679c\u3002\u7b2c\u4e09\uff0c\u7b14\u58a8\u51dd\u7ec3\uff0c\u7e41\u7b80\u5f97\u5b9c\uff0c\u53e5\u5f0f\u4ee5\u4e94\u8a00\u4e3a\u4e3b\uff0c\u6742\u4ee5\u4e03\u8a00\u3001\u4e5d\u8a00\uff0c\u9519\u843d\u6709\u81f4\uff0c\u58f0\u97f5\u94ff\u9535\uff0c\u5bcc\u6709\u97f3\u4e50\u7f8e\u3002\u300a\u6728\u5170\u8bd7\u300b\u4e0d\u6127\u662f\u6211\u56fd\u53e4\u4ee3\u8bd7\u6b4c\u53f2\u4e0a\u8f89\u6620\u5343\u53e4\u7684\u53d9\u4e8b\u8bd7\u540d\u7bc7\uff0c\u4e0e\u300a\u5b54\u96c0\u4e1c\u5357\u98de\u300b\u88ab\u8a89\u4e3a\u6211\u56fd\u8bd7\u6b4c\u53f2\u4e0a\u957f\u7bc7\u53d9\u4e8b\u8bd7\u7684\u53cc\u74a7\u3002
