For a beginner level Chinese language learner, to tell people “It’s just right!” in Chinese can be easily fixed by a simple word: “Good. ” – \u597d\u7684 h\u01ceo de! However, don’t you feel bored if your company keeps using the same blank words like “good”, “yes” or “no” again and again? \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

For Chinese language beginners, these words may help you survive, but they won’t help you any more than that. You really need to learn more ex<\/em>pressions of one type of question or answer to show the wo<\/em>nderful colors of your personality. Chinese culture is by large people ba<\/em>sed culture, a good grip on the art of ex<\/em>pression is essential if your goal is to go deeper into the culture, the people and the society through Chinese language. That’s also one of my goals to set up this Learn Chinese o<\/em>nline blog.<\/p>\n

There are many different ways to say “It’s just right. ” in Chinese. Here on this post, I’ll recommend a few common ways with slight variations for your reference.<\/p>\n

1. Pattern “\u4e0d…\u4e0d…\uff0c\u6b63\u597d (bù… bù…\uff0c zhèngh\u01ceo)!”<\/p>\n

You need to fill in two opposite characters after both “\u4e0d“. Such as :<\/p>\n

    bù cháng bù du\u01cen\uff0c zhèngh\u01ceo! <\/p>\n

    \u4e0d\u957f\u4e0d\u77ed\uff0c\u6b63\u597d!<\/p>\n

    Not too long not too short, just right!<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    bù du\u014d bùsh\u01ceo\uff0c zhèngh\u01ceo!<\/p>\n

    \u4e0d\u591a\u4e0d\u5c11\uff0c\u6b63\u597d!<\/p>\n

    Not too much not too less, just right!<\/p>\n

2. \u6b63\u597d zhèng h\u01ceo can be replaced with \u6b63\u5408\u9002 zhèng hé shì, such as:<\/p>\n

    bù s\u014dng bù j\u01d0n, zhèng hé shì!<\/p>\n

    \u4e0d\u677e\u4e0d\u7d27, \u6b63\u5408\u9002!<\/p>\n

    Not too loose not too tight, just right!<\/p>\n

3. \u6070\u5230\u597d\u5904 qià dào h\u01ceo chù or simply \u6070\u597d qiàh\u01ceo<\/p>\n

These two words can be placed after \u4e0d…\u4e0d… as well. For example,<\/p>\n

    bùdà bù xi\u01ceo, qiàdàoh\u01ceochù. <\/p>\n

    \u4e0d\u5927\u4e0d\u5c0f, \u6070\u5230\u597d\u5904.<\/p>\n

    Not too big not too small, just right.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    bù g\u0101o bù d\u012b, qiàh\u01ceo.<\/p>\n

    \u4e0d\u9ad8\u4e0d\u4f4e, \u6070\u597d.<\/p>\n

    Not too high not too low, just right.<\/p>\n

These kinds of patterns are usually used to answer people’s questions like “Is it too long? ” , “Do you want a bit more?” “Does it look right to you?” etc.. Therefore, your answer mostly likely should include a “thank you” to co<\/em>nclude it. Your full respo<\/em>nse would likely be something like this :<\/p>\n

    Q: zhè tiáo qúnzi z\u011bnmeyàng? <\/p>\n

    Q: \u8fd9\u6761\u88d9\u5b50\u600e\u4e48\u6837?<\/p>\n

    Q: How do you feel a<\/em>bout this skirt?<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    A: bù cháng bù du\u01cen\uff0c zhèngh\u01ceo\uff0c xièxie\u3002<\/p>\n

    A: \u4e0d\u957f\u4e0d\u77ed\uff0c\u6b63\u597d\uff0c\u8c22\u8c22\u3002<\/p>\n

    A: Not too long not too short, it’s just right, thanks..<\/p>\n

Or, answer this way :<\/p>\n

    A: bù cháng bù du\u01cen\uff0c qiàdàoh\u01ceochù\uff0c xièxie\u3002<\/p>\n

    A: \u4e0d\u957f\u4e0d\u77ed\uff0c\u6070\u5230\u597d\u5904\uff0c\u8c22\u8c22\u3002<\/p>\n
