M: J\u012bn ti\u0101n w\u01d2men xué .. some more of the 12 dòngwù on the Chinese lunar calendar. And please, don’t forget to   chóngfù everything we say in Chinese.<\/p>\n

S: Can you list those we’ve learnt already, in Chinese, and in the right order? Try it with ML. Start with ‘one rat’, then two something, then three, etc.<\/p>\n

M: Here goes, \u4e00\u53ea\u8001\u9f20 yì zh\u012b l\u01ceosh\u01d4; \u4e24\u5934\u725b li\u01ceng tóu níu; \u4e09\u53ea\u8001\u864e s\u0101n zh\u012b l\u01ceoh\u01d4; \u56db\u53ea\u5154\u5b50 sì zh\u012b tùzi; \u4e94\u6761\u9f99 w\u01d4   tiáo lóng; and six snakes; \u516d\u6761\u86c7 lìu tiáo shé.<\/p>\n

S: H\u011bn h\u01ceo. Hey, ML, look, on the floor there’s a snake. \u563f\uff0c\u66fc\u4e3d\uff0c\u4f60\u770b\u5730\u677f\u4e0a\u6709\u4e00\u6761\u86c7 hei, ML, n\u01d0 kàn, dìb\u01cen    shàng y\u01d2u yì tiáo shé.<\/p>\n

M: I don’t care. \u6211\u4e0d\u5728\u4e4e w\u01d2 bú zàihu. I’m not afraid of snakes. \u6211\u4e0d\u6015\u86c7 w\u01d2 bú pà shé.<\/p>\n

S: And there’s a horse outside \u5916\u8fb9\u8fd8\u6709\u4e00\u5339\u9a6c wàibi\u0101n háiy\u01d2u yì p\u01d0 m\u01ce.<\/p>\n

S: So everybody say, There are two snakes on the floor.<\/p>\n

M: H\u011bn h\u01ceo. \u5730\u677f\u4e0a\u6709\u4e24\u6761\u86c7 dìb\u01cen shàng y\u01d2u li\u01ceng tiáo shé.<\/p>\n

S: But, she doesn’t care \u4f46\u662f\uff0c\u5979\u4e0d\u5728\u4e4e dàn shì, t\u0101 bú zàihu.<\/p>\n

M: \u5bf9\u4e86, \u6211\u4e0d\u5728\u4e4e. I don’t care!<\/p>\n

S: Bú zàihu. You can use it in exactly the same way as ‘I don’t care’, so it’s really useful. We’ll all say it together a few times, and put the right feeling into it. W\u01d2 bú zàihu, W\u01d2 bú zàihu, W\u01d2 bú zàihu.<\/p>\n

M: Ok, enough, gòu le! \u6211\u4e3a\u4ec0\u4e48\u4e0d\u5728\u4e4e\uff1f \u56e0\u4e3a\u6211\u4e0d\u6015\u86c7. \u6015 PA pà, ‘to fear’, ‘to be afraid of’, pà.<\/p>\n

S: So everybody say, I’m afraid of him. … H\u011bn h\u01ceo, \u6211\u6015\u4ed6 w\u01d2 pà t\u0101.<\/p>\n

M: And, I’m not afraid of snakes, \u6211\u4e0d\u6015\u86c7 w\u01d2 bú pà shé.<\/p>\n

S: Snakes are cute. \u86c7\u5f88\u53ef\u7231.<\/p>\n

S: I also said, And there’s a horse outside. \u5916\u8fb9\u8fd8\u6709\u4e00\u5339\u9a6c<\/p>\n

M: wàibi\u0101n hái y\u01d2u y\u012b p\u01d0 m\u01ce. \u5916\u8fb9 WAI BIAN wàibi\u0101n, is ‘outside’. Remember ‘inside’? Right. L\u01d0bian, or l\u01d0mian.
Outside is wàibian, or wàimian.<\/p>\n

S: And did you hear the measure word for horse? Méi cuò. \u5339 PI p\u01d0.<\/p>\n

M: So, before we xià kè, say, on your own, Outside are twelve horses. H\u011bn h\u01ceo. \u5916\u8fb9\u6709\u5341\u4e8c\u5339\u9a6c wàibian y\u01d2u shí èr p\u01d0 m\u01ce.<\/p>\n

S: Now we’re going horse riding. Xiàn zài w\u01d2men qù qí m\u01ce. Zàijian.
