In the past (and with a few notable exceptions like WoW) Western games haven&rsquo;t really taken off in China, as Chinese gamers tend to prefer local products. It&rsquo;s got an addictive puzzle-like quality and simple mechanics. It also requires no translation at all, as there&rsquo;s basically no spoken language in the game.<span>&nbsp;<\/span><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">\u6124\u6012\u7684\u5c0f\u9e1f<span>&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong>(F&egrave;nn&ugrave; de Xi\u01ceoni\u01ceo, the game&rsquo;s Chinese name) has become such a hit in China that you don&rsquo;t even need an iPhone to play it anymore, you can use a real life slingshot and stuffed bird toys to take those arrogant stuffed pigs down a peg &mdash; literally!<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 1em 0px; padding: 0px; text-overflow: ellipsis; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 25.200000762939453px; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\"><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Plants vs. Zombies, the PopCap game<\/strong><span>&nbsp;<\/span>that&rsquo;s shuffled its way o<em><\/em>nto phones, computers, and just a<em><\/em>bout everything else in the West has also taken root here in China, wher it&rsquo;s called<span>&nbsp;<\/span><strong style=\"font-weight: bold;\">\u690d\u7269\u5927\u6218\u50f5\u5c38<\/strong><span>&nbsp;<\/span>(Zh&iacute;w&ugrave; D&agrave;zh&agrave;n Ji\u0101ngsh\u012b, &ldquo;Plants Battle Zombies&rdquo;). In fact, it&rsquo;s so popular that it&rsquo;s parodied in Chinese sitcoms and has allegedly even led some Chinese to take up gardening in real life (note: we&rsquo;re pretty sure that gardening will not save you in a real zombie apocalypse).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 1em 0px; padding: 0px; text-overflow: ellipsis; color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Verdana, Arial; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 25.200000762939453px; orphans: auto; text-align: start; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: auto; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\">Of course the gardening trend comes mostly from another popular casual game, Happy Farm (known to the West as Farmville). This one actually originated here in China, Farmville is just a copycat. But which games are most likely to catch on with Chinese gamers? Apparently, games that feature plants, zombies, and angry birds.
