{"id":10251,"date":"2019-11-18T18:43:25","date_gmt":"2019-11-18T18:43:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chinesemoment.com\/chinese-reading\/mummified-buddha\/"},"modified":"2019-11-18T18:43:25","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T18:43:25","slug":"mummified-buddha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chinesemoment.com\/my\/mummified-buddha\/","title":{"rendered":"Mummified Buddha"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Chinese authorities have claimed that a 1,000-year-old Buddha statue owned by a Dutch private collector is in fact a stolen relic from southeast China&rsquo;s Fujian province.<br \/>  \u798f\u5efa\u6587\u7269\u5c40\u8868\u793a\u8377\u5170\u79c1\u4eba\u85cf\u5bb6\u6536\u85cf\u7684\u5343\u5e74\u4f5b\u50cf\u786e\u5b9e\u662f\u4e2d\u56fd\u798f\u5efa\u9633\u6625\u6751\u88ab\u76d7\u7684\u7956\u5e08\u50cf\u3002<\/p>\n<p>  The Buddha(\u4f5b\u50cf) was earlier on display(\u5c55\u89c8) in Hungarian Natural History Museum in late February, it was widely reported that the statue(\u5851\u50cf) co<em><\/em>ntained(\u5305\u542b) the mummified remains of a monk.<\/p>\n<p>  Sharp-eyed people in Fujian&rsquo;s Yangchun Village noticed that the Buddha in the media reports had so much similarity(\u76f8\u4f3c) to the statue that used to be housed in the village temple but got stolen(\u88ab\u76d7) in 1995.<\/p>\n<p>  The local Cultural Relic Bureau immediately dispatched experts to the village to investigate the matter. Experts found a large number of photos, relics(\u6587\u7269) and historical records suggesting the mummy was a former ancestor of the local clan(\u7956\u5e08\uff09.<\/p>\n<p>  The statue was scheduled to(\u539f\u8ba1\u5212) be on display until May 17, but was pulled from the exhibition last Friday.
