Today we’ll ex<\/em>pressions of co<\/em>ngratulating someone during the Spring Festival. \u795d\u4f60\u6625\u8282\u5feb\u4e50\/ \u795d\u4f60\u5168\u5bb6\u5e78\u798f\uff01\uff0f\u795d\u4f60\u4e07\u4e8b\u5982\u610f\uff01\uff0f\u606d\u559c\u53d1\u8d22! All in today’s Chinese Studio.

Cam: Ok first, how do you say Spring Festival in Chinese?
Yajie: It’s \u6625\u8282 (Ch\u016bn Jié).
Cam: \u6625\u8282 (Ch\u016bn Jié).
Yajie: Yes. \u6625 means the spring. \u6625, the first tone. And \u8282 means festival. \u8282 , j-i-e, the second tone. Actually people celebrate it at the beginning of spring. Together\u6625\u8282 is the Spring Festival.
Cam: \u6625\u8282 (Ch\u016bn Jié). Then can I say\u795d\u4f60\u6625\u8282\u5feb\u4e50(zhù n\u01d0 ch\u016bnjié kuàilè)\uff01to greet Chinese people during the Spring Festival?
Yajie: Yes, you can. Like\u795d\u4f60\u751f\u65e5\u5feb\u4e50!, you can say\u795d\u4f60\u6625\u8282\u5feb\u4e50\uff01to those who are celebrating the Spring Festival.
Cam: Ok. \u795d\u4f60\u6625\u8282\u5feb\u4e50(zhù n\u01d0 ch\u016bnjié kuàilè)\uff01
Yajie: As we mentio<\/em>ned last time\u795d\u4f60 is used to express good wishes, sometimes with the implication of “co<\/em>ngratulating in advance”. \u795d, z-h-u, zhù, the forth tone.
Cam: If someone says \u795d\u4f60\u6625\u8282\u5feb\u4e50(zhù n\u01d0 ch\u016bnjié kuàilè) to me, how should I answer?
Yajie: Well, you could say\u8c22\u8c22\uff01\u6625\u8282\u5feb\u4e50! Thanks. Happy Spring Festival! Or you could say\u8c22\u8c22\uff01\u540c\u4e50\uff0c\u540c\u4e50\uff01\u540c\u4e50 means “you too”. \u540c means together. \u4e50is short for \u5feb\u4e50, which means happiness!
Cam: \u540c\u4e50\uff0c\u540c\u4e50\uff01It’s like during our Christmas holiday.  When somebody says Merry Christmas, you can say, “you too!”  But it’s interesting that Chinese people say “tong le” two times.
Yajie: Yes, like we learned before, Chinese people would say nalinali twice. It’s just for the emphasis.<\/p>\n

Yajie: You can also say\u795d\u4f60\u5168\u5bb6\u5e78\u798f, I wish happiness for your whole family!
Cam: \u795d\u4f60\u5168\u5bb6\u5e78\u798f\uff01(zhù n\u01d0 quánji\u0101 xìngfú!)
Yajie: \u5168\u5bb6 means the whole family. \u5168, the whole, q-u-a-n, the second tone. \u5bb6, family, j-i-\u0101, the first tone.
Cam: \u5168\u5bb6(quánji\u0101), the whole family.
Yajie: \u5e78\u798f, happy. \u5e78, x-i-n-g, the fourth tone; \u798f, f-u, the second tone.\u3000
Cam:\u3000Then what’s the answer to\u795d\u4f60\u5168\u5bb6\u5e78\u798f\uff01(zhù n\u01d0 quánji\u0101 xìngfú)?
Yajie: The answer is \u8c22\u8c22\uff01\u4e5f\u795d\u4f60\u5168\u5bb6\u5e78\u798f\uff01 Thank you. I also wish your whole family happiness! \u4e5fmeans also.<\/p>\n

Yajie: Another ex<\/em>pression is \u795d\u4f60\u4e07\u4e8b\u5982\u610f\uff01It means “All the best!” 
Cam: \u795d\u4f60\u4e07\u4e8b\u5982\u610f! (zhù n\u01d0 wànshì rúyì!)
Yajie: \u4e07, is actually a number, ten thousand. \u4e07, w-a-n, the fourth tone. \u4e8b means thing. \u4e8b, s-h-i, also the fourth tone. So in Chinese, ten thousand things stand for everything.
Cam: \u4e07\u4e8b(wànshì)
Yajie: \u5982\u610f means comply with one’s wishes.<\/p>\n
