Yajie:. Right. Do you know how do say “my father” in Chinese?

Yajie: Right. \u6211\u7684\u7238\u7238. There are a few phrases that don’t require “de”, and this is one of them. For example, you may say \u6211\u7238\u7238 rather than \u6211\u7684\u7238\u7238.
Cam: Ok. Seems easier.
Yajie: Another example is: their teacher could be said \u4ed6\u4eec\u7684\u8001\u5e08 in Chinese, but also you may say \u4ed6\u4eec\u8001\u5e08.
Cam: \u4ed6\u4eec\u8001\u5e08(t\u0101men l\u01ceosh\u012b).
Yajie: \u4ed6\u4eec, they. T-a-m-e-n, the first tone and the light tone. \u4ed6\u4eec(t\u0101men).
Cam: \u4ed6\u4eec(t\u0101men). And\u4ed6\u4eec\u7684(t\u0101men de) is theirs.
Yajie: Yes. \u8001\u5e08, teacher. The third tone and the first tone.

Yajie: Well, the answer to\u8fd9\u662f\u8c01\uff1fcould be \u8fd9\u662f plus that person. Or you may just say that person directly.  For example, if someone were pointing at your father’s photo and asking \u8fd9\u662f\u8c01, you may say \u6211\u7238\u7238, my father, for short.
