Min varieties of Chinese are spoken by some 75 million individuals primarily in <strong>Fujian<\/strong> (\u798f\u5efa F&uacute;ji&agrave;n)&nbsp;province in China, and also in some parts of <strong>Jiangsu<\/strong> (\u6c5f\u82cf Ji\u0101ngs\u016b), <strong>Zhejiang<\/strong> (\u6d59\u6c5f Zh&egrave;ji\u0101ng), <strong>Jiangxi <\/strong>(\u6c5f\u897f Ji\u0101ngx\u012b), <strong>Guangdong<\/strong> (\u5e7f\u4e1c Gu\u01cengd\u014dng), <strong>Hainan<\/strong> (\u6d77\u5357 H\u01cein&aacute;n)&nbsp;and <strong>Guangxi<\/strong> (\u5e7f\u897f Gu\u01cengx\u012b), at the same time as in <strong>Taiwan<\/strong> (\u53f0\u6e7e T&aacute;iw\u0101n)&nbsp;and Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Burma as well as other cities in Southeast Asia, and inside the USA, especially in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>  \tThe traditional Chinese title for Fujian, originates from the Kingdom of <strong>Minyue<\/strong> (\u95fd\u8d8a M\u01d0nyu&egrave;)&nbsp;was positioned in what is now Fujian province between about 334-110 BC. The name Min was possibly an ethnic title and associated with all the Chinese word for barbarians , and Yue comes from the State of Yue, a kingdom in Zhejiang&nbsp;Province in the course of the Spring and Autumn Period (771 &#8211; 476 BC).<\/p>\n<p>  \tVarieties of Min are divided in line with mutual intelligibility into five to nine separate groups. A distinction can also be made between Inland Min varieties and Coastal Min varieties.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00\"><span _fck_bookmark=\"1\" style=\"display: none\">&nbsp;1\u30011111111&nbsp; 111<\/span><span style=\"background-color: #fff\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"><strong>Inland varieties of Min<\/strong><br \/>  \t<\/span><span _fck_bookmark=\"1\" style=\"display: none\">&nbsp;<\/span><strong>1\u3001Northern Min<\/strong><br \/>  \t<\/span><\/span><strong>Northern Min <\/strong>(\u95fd\u5317 M\u01d0nb\u011bi)&nbsp;or Min Bei has about 10.3 million speakers in the northern of Fujian Province, particulary close to <strong>Nanping<\/strong> (\u5357\u5e73 N&aacute;np&iacute;ng)&nbsp;and <strong>Xiaxian<\/strong> (\u590f\u53bf Xi&agrave;xi&agrave;n)&nbsp;city. There are also speakers in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia along with other cities of South East Asia.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<span style=\"background-color: #fff\"><strong>2\u3001Shaojiang Min<\/strong><br \/>  \t<\/span><strong>Shaojiang Min <\/strong>(\u7ecd\u6c5f\u95fd\u8bed Sh&agrave;oji\u0101ng m\u01d0ny\u01d4)&nbsp;or Shao-Jiang&nbsp;is a group of Min subvarieties spoken about Nanping in the northeast of Fujian province. They may be often categorized as dialects of Northern Min, but aren&rsquo;t mutually intelligible with it.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<span style=\"background-color: #fff\"><strong>3\u3001Central Min<\/strong><br \/>  \t<\/span><strong>Central Min<\/strong> (\u95fd\u4e2d M\u01d0nzh\u014dng)&nbsp;or Min Zhong is spoken by about 3.5 million individuals in central Fujian Province, particularly close to <strong>Yong&#39;an<\/strong> (\u6c38\u5b89 Y\u01d2ng\u0101n)&nbsp;city , <strong>Sanming<\/strong> (\u5c71\u660e Sh\u0101nm&iacute;ng)&nbsp;city and <strong>Sha County <\/strong>(\u6c99\u53bf Sh\u0101xi&agrave;n).<\/p>\n<p>  \t<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00\"><strong><span style=\"background-color: #fff\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Coastal varieties of Min<br \/>  \t<\/span>1\u3001Soutern Min<br \/>  \t<\/span><\/strong><\/span><strong>Southern Min <\/strong>(\u95fd\u5357 M\u01d0nn&aacute;n)&nbsp;or Min Nan varieties are spoken by about 49 million folks in the south of Fujian province, in Guangdong, Hainan, Zhejiang and Jiangxi provinces, as well as in Taiwan, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia. Min is an additional name for Fujian province and Nan signifies &#39;south&#39; or &#39;southern&#39;.<\/p>\n<p>  \tMain varieties of Southern Min consist of:<br \/>  \t<strong>Quanzhou<\/strong> (\u6cc9\u5dde Qu&aacute;nzh\u014du)<br \/>  \t<strong>Xiamen<\/strong> (\u53a6\u95e8 Xi&agrave;m&eacute;n)<br \/>  \t&#8211; contains Taiwanese<br \/>  \t<strong>Zhangzhou<\/strong> (\u6f33\u5dde Zh\u0101ngzh\u014du)<br \/>  \t<strong>Chaozhou<\/strong> (\u6f6e\u5dde Ch&aacute;ozh\u014du)<br \/>  \tQuanzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzhou varieties of Southern Min are much more or less mutually intelligible with every single other, but not with Chaozhou varieties.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<span style=\"background-color: #fff\"><strong>2\u3001Eastern Min<br \/>  \t<\/strong><\/span><strong>Eastern Min<\/strong> (\u95fd\u4e1c M\u01d0nd\u014dng) or Min Dong&nbsp;is spoken by roughly 9.1 million people mainly in east central Fujian province, notably in and around Fuzhou and Ningde, as well as in Brunei, Indonesia (Java and Bali), Malaysia (Peninsular) Singapore, Thailand.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<span style=\"background-color: #fff\"><strong>3\u3001Pu-Xian<\/strong><br \/>  \t<\/span><strong>Pu-Xian<\/strong> (\u8386\u4ed9 P&uacute;xi\u0101n) or Puxian Min is spoken by about 2.6 million people generally in Putian City and Xianyou County in Fujian province, you&#39;ll also find speakers in parts of Quanzhou, Shacheng, Fuding in northern Fujian, as well as in Malaysia and Singapore. The name Pu-Xian combines the first characters of Putian and Xianyou. This assortment of Min can also generally be known as Henghua or Xinghua.<\/p>\n<p>  \t<span style=\"background-color: #fff\"><strong>4\u3001Qiong-Lei<br \/>  \t<\/strong><\/span>There are two main subvarieties of the <strong>Qiong-Lei <\/strong>(\u743c\u96f7 Qi&oacute;ngl&eacute;i)&nbsp;selection of Min: <strong>Leizhou<\/strong> (\u96f7\u5dde L&eacute;izh\u014du), which is spoken by about four million people in Leizhou city and neighbouring regions in western Guangdong province; and Hainanese, which is spoken primarily in Hainan by about 1.1 million people.
