For instance,<br \/>  \t\u6211\u4eec\u5728\u5403\u996d (w\u01d2men z&agrave;i ch\u012bf&agrave;n)\u3002We are having lunch. (&quot;\u996d&quot; is the object)<br \/>  \tThe object is usually placed after a verb serving as a predicate. The object is most often a noun or pronoun. However, nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, numerals, and phrases can all act as the object. For instance,<br \/>  \t\u6211\u4eec\u660e\u5929\u53bb\u8d2d\u7269 (w\u01d2men m&iacute;ngti\u0101n q&ugrave; g&ograve;uw&ugrave;)\u3002We will go shopping tomorrow. (The noun &quot;\u8d2d\u7269&quot; is the object)<br \/>  \t\u6211\u559c\u6b22\u9493\u9c7c (w\u01d2 x\u01d0hu\u0101n di&agrave;oy&uacute;)\u3002I like fishing. (The verb &quot;\u9493\u9c7c&quot; is the object)<\/p>\n<p>  \tA transitive verb can either carry an object or go without one. When a transitive verb carries one object it is called a single object. For instance,<br \/>  \t\u6211\u4eec\u9605\u8bfb (w\u01d2men yu&egrave;d&uacute;) &nbsp;We are reading. (The transitive verb &quot;\u9605\u8bfb&quot;, to transcribe, does not carry an object)<br \/>  \t\u6211\u4eec\u9605\u8bfb\u8bfe\u6587 (w\u01d2men yu&egrave;d&uacute; k&egrave;w&eacute;n)\u3002 We are reading a book. (The transitive verb &quot;\u9605\u8bfb&quot; carries the object &quot;\u8bfe\u6587&quot;, which is a single object)<\/p>\n<p>  \tSome transitive verbs can take two object and this is called a double object. The first object is called an indirect object and the second is called a direct object. For instance,<br \/>  \t\u8001\u5e08\u6559\u6211\u4eec\u82f1\u8bed (l\u01ceosh\u012b ji\u0101o w\u01d2men y\u012bngy\u01d4)\u3002 The teacher is teaching us English. (The pronoun &quot;\u6211\u4eec&quot; is an indirect object and the noun &quot;\u82f1\u8bed&quot; Chinese is a direct object)<\/p>\n<p>  \tFor the purpose of emphasis, comparison, or simplification the object may be placed in front of a verb acting as a predicate. This is called a fronted object. For instance,<br \/>  \t\u6211\u628a\u8fd9\u4e9b\u5bb6\u52a1\u6d3b\u90fd\u5e72\u5b8c\u4e86 (w\u01d2 b\u01ce zh&egrave;xi\u0113 ji\u0101w&ugrave;hu&oacute; d\u014du g\u0101n w&aacute;n le)\u3002I have finished all of the housework.
