D\u014dng, first tone.<br \/>  \tCam: d\u014dng.<br \/>  \tYajie: In oral Chinese we usually say &ldquo;\u4e1c\u8fb9&rdquo;\u3002&ldquo;\u8fb9&rdquo;means side. Bian is said in the neutral tone. In common speech, some syllables are pronounced both light and short. Such a tone is called the neutral tone. So it&rsquo;s &ldquo;\u4e1c\u8fb9&rdquo;, meaning the eastern side or the eastern direction, d\u014dngbian.<br \/>  \tCam: d\u014dngbian.
