The earliest written records come from the Zhou Dynasty (about 1100 BC – 256 BC), nearly three thousand years ago. In the 4th century BC, the knot button took its present form and remained largely unchanged until the Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1911).<\/p>\n \tA change of style in the early Qing Dynasty in the second half of 17th century is considered a watershed moment in the use of knot buttons. Among the most popular designs are butterflies<\/strong>(\u8774\u8776 húdié), rosebuds, and diagonal cross-weaving.
