When using \u5bf9 (duì) as a preposition, it is used to indicate "to" or "towards" a object or target. As with all prepositions, some care should be taken when using this particle, as usage of \u5bf9 doesn’t always totally "make sense" or correspond to English at all in Chinese grammar.<\/p>\n

Basic Structure <\/span><\/strong>
The structure is basically:
\u5bf9+object+verb phrase
Note that you shouldn’t be plugging in just any old verb here. Certain verbs are often used with \u5bf9, and some even need \u5bf9 if you want to add an object (like \u611f\u5174\u8da3, explained below).<\/p>\n

Examples <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

T\u0101 duì w\u01d2 xiào.
\u4ed6 \u5bf9 \u6211 \u7b11\u3002<\/div>\n

Phrases<\/strong>
\u5bf9 is also used in such structures as: \u5bf9……\u6765\u8bf4 ("for… [a person]") ,\u5bf9…\u611f\u5174\u8da3 ("to be interested in…") as well as \u5bf9···\u7684\u5370\u8c61\uff08”the impression on the object“\uff09
\u5bf9……\u6765\u8bf4:<\/strong>This essentially means "for… (a person)." It’s for making a statement from a certain person’s point of view.<\/p>\n

The pattern is:
