We&#8217;ve learnt \u65e9\u6668 z\u01ceoch&eacute;n, which means &lsquo;early morning&#8217;. The morning in general is sh&agrave;ngw\u01d4. <br \/>  M: Sh&agrave;ngw\u01d4. Sh&agrave;ng SHANG literally means &lsquo;on&#8217; sh&agrave;ng. \u4e0b XIA means &lsquo;under&#8217;, xi&agrave;. And \u5348 WU w\u01d4, is &lsquo;midday, noon&#8217;. <br \/>  S: So if shangwu is &lsquo;morning&#8217;, what is xi&agrave;w\u01d4? Du&igrave;le. &lsquo;afternoon&#8217;, xi&agrave;w\u01d4. <br \/>  M: For midday, we say \u4e2d\u5348 zh\u014dngw\u01d4. The zh\u014dng means middle, as in Zh\u014dnggu&oacute;. <br \/>  S: And the evening is, \u665a\u4e0a w\u01censh&agrave;ng. <br \/>  M: So, let&#8217;s quickly say early morning, morning, noon, afternoon and evening. <br \/>  S: z\u01ceoch&eacute;n, z\u01ceoch&eacute;n. <br \/>  M: sh&agrave;ngw\u01d4, sh&agrave;ngw\u01d4. <br \/>  S: xi&agrave;w\u01d4, xi&agrave;w\u01d4. <br \/>  M: zh\u014dngw\u01d4, zh\u014dngw\u01d4, <br \/>  S: w\u01censh&agrave;ng, w\u01censh&agrave;ng. <br \/>  M: H&eacute;n h\u01ceo. F&agrave;n FAN f&agrave;n, food. Z\u01ceo f&agrave;n, &lsquo;early food&#8217;, &lsquo;breakfast&#8217;. <br \/>  S: W\u01d4c\u0101n WU CAN w\u01d4c\u0101n. The can is the same can as in Chinese food, zh\u014dngc\u0101n, or restaurant, c\u0101ngu\u01cen. So, w\u01d4c\u0101n, &lsquo;midday food&#8217;, &lsquo;lunch&#8217; w\u01d4c\u0101n. <br \/>  M: And \u665a\u996d WAN FAN w\u01cenf&agrave;n. W\u01cen here means evening, w\u01cenf&agrave;n, evening food, meaning, of course, &lsquo;dinner&#8217;. <br \/>  S: Well, that&#8217;s enough zh\u014dngw&eacute;n for today, so, w\u01d2men xi&agrave; k&egrave;.
