In the past, it belo<em><\/em>nged to State of Zhongshan. Geng Zaichen, the adoptive father of the first emperor of Ming Dynasty Zhu Yuanzhang was buried here after his death according to the imperial edict. The Geng Temple Fair (from the first to fourth of April in lunar calendar) that was established in commemoration of Geng Zaichen attracts the young men and women as well as businessmen from around a hundred Li away. There are a full array of folklore performances including traditio<em><\/em>nal opera, s<em><\/em>cripture-carrying dance, story-telling, and fan-drum performance. In the 1940&rsquo;s, there were o<em><\/em>nly a<em><\/em>bout 400 people in Geng Village and 100-odd stores and workshops. Hence the compliment like &ldquo;little village but big fair&rdquo; and Geng Village ranking the third after Beijing and Tianjin&rdquo;. When People leaving the village for business trips, travel, or recruitment returned, they would bring back stories and legends from all corners of the world. As time went on, this village became a place of commodities transit and dispatch and platform of folk literature communication, accumulating an abundance of folklore cultures. In particular, the tradition of story-telling is still popular among the villagers here today.<br \/>  1987\u5e74\u4ee5\u6765\uff0c\u76f8\u5173\u90e8\u95e8\u7ec4\u7ec7\u5bf9\u803f\u6751\u6545\u4e8b\u4f20\u627f\u72b6\u51b5\u4f5c\u4e8611\u6b21\u666e\u67e5\u3002\u76ee\u524d\uff0c\u803f\u6751\u7684\u6545\u4e8b\u8bb2\u8ff0\u8005\u6709\u4e8c\u767e\u4e09\u5341\u4f59\u4eba\uff0c\u5176\u4e2d67\u4eba\u5df2\u88ab\u786e\u8ba4\u4e3a&ldquo;\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u8bb2\u8ff0\u5bb6&rdquo;\u3002\u53e6\u5916\u8fd8\u51fa\u73b0\u4e86\u6545\u4e8b\u5bb6\u5ead\u3001\u6545\u4e8b\u592b\u59bb\u3001\u6545\u4e8b\u5144\u5f1f\u3001\u6545\u4e8b\u6bcd\u5b50\u3001\u6545\u4e8b\u7236\u5b50\u7b49\u4f20\u627f\u6a21\u5f0f\u3002<br \/>  Ever since 1987, there have been 11 times of survey of heritance of stories in this village co<em><\/em>nducted by the competent authority. At present, the number of story-tellers of Geng Village is over 230, 67 of whom have been co<em><\/em>nfirmed as &ldquo;Master Folk Story-teller&rdquo;. Besides, there have also appeared types of story-telling inheritance such as Story-telling Family, Story-telling Couple, Story-telling Brothers, Story-telling Mother and Son, and Story-telling Father and Son.<br \/>  \u803f\u6751\u56e0\u6545\u4e8b\u8d44\u6e90\u4e30\u539a\uff0c\u8bb2\u8ff0\u4eba\u96c6\u4e2d\uff0c\u88ab\u547d\u540d\u4e3a&ldquo;\u6545\u4e8b\u6751&rdquo;\u3002\u8be5\u6751\u4f20\u627f\u7684\u6545\u4e8b\u5185\u5bb9\u6d89\u53ca\u793e\u4f1a\u5b66\u3001\u4f26\u7406\u5b66\u3001\u5386\u53f2\u5b66\u3001\u5b97\u6559\u5b66\u3001\u54f2\u5b66\u548c\u6587\u5b66\u7b49\u65b9\u9762\uff0c\u6709\u8f83\u9ad8\u7684\u5b66\u672f\u4ef7\u503c\u3002\u803f\u6751\u6545\u4e8b\u8868\u73b0\u51fa\u7684\u5ba1\u7f8e\u89c2\u3001\u4ef7\u503c\u89c2\u4ee5\u53ca\u79d1\u5b66\u8ba4\u8bc6\u3001\u9053\u5fb7\u6559\u5316\u548c\u5a31\u4e50\u529f\u80fd\u5bf9\u5efa\u8bbe\u793e\u4f1a\u4e3b\u4e49\u7cbe\u795e\u6587\u660e\u3001\u4e30\u5bcc\u4eba\u6c11\u7fa4\u4f17\u7684\u6587\u5316\u751f\u6d3b\u3001\u63d0\u9ad8\u4eba\u6c11\u7fa4\u4f17\u7d20\u8d28\u3001\u6784\u5efa\u548c\u8c10\u793e\u4f1a\u6709\u7740\u79ef\u6781\u7684\u73b0\u5b9e\u610f\u4e49\u3002<br \/>  Given the rich resources of stories and the number of story-tellers, Geng Village was given the name &ldquo;Story-telling Village&rdquo;. The stories inherited in this village co<em><\/em>ncern various themes or aspects ranging from sociology, ethics, history, religion, philosophy and literature and are of significant academic value. The aesthetic perspective, co<em><\/em>ncept of values, scientific cognition, moral edifying, and recreatio<em><\/em>nal functions revealed in the Geng Village stories have a positive, practical role to play in improving socialist ideology and decorum, enriching people&rsquo;s cultural life, enhancing people&rsquo;s overall background, and promoting peace and prosperity here in China.<br \/>  \u622a\u81f3\u76ee\u524d\u4e3a\u6b62\uff0c\u5df2\u8bb0\u5f55\u3001\u6574\u7406\u51fa\u803f\u6751\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u516d\u5343\u4f59\u4e07\u5b57\uff0c\u5148\u540e\u7f16\u5370\u5185\u90e8\u79d1\u7814\u5377\u672c\u300a\u803f\u6751\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u96c6\u300b5\u90e8\uff0c\u516c\u5f00\u51fa\u7248\u4e86\u6545\u4e8b\u5bb6\u4e13\u96c6\u548c\u7814\u7a76\u6027\u8457\u4f5c10\u90e8\uff0c\u8ba1955\u4e07\u5b57\u3002\u803f\u6751\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u73b0\u8c61\u5f15\u8d77\u56fd\u5185\u5916\u5b66\u754c\u5173\u6ce8\uff0c\u65e5\u672c\u7b49\u5916\u56fd\u5b66\u8005\u66fe\u4e13\u7a0b\u5230\u803f\u6751\u8003\u5bdf\uff0c\u8fd8\u4e3e\u529e\u8fc7\u56fd\u9645\u5b66\u672f\u7814\u8ba8\u4f1a\u3002\u8fd1\u5e74\u6765\uff0c\u73b0\u6709\u6545\u4e8b\u5bb6\u90fd\u5e74\u4e8b\u6e10\u9ad8\uff0c\u65b0\u4e00\u4ee3\u5bf9\u6545\u4e8b\u7684\u5174\u8da3\u8d8a\u6765\u8d8a\u6de1\u6f20\uff0c\u803f\u6751\u6c11\u95f4\u6545\u4e8b\u9762\u4e34\u4f20\u627f\u65ad\u4ee3\u7684\u5371\u9669\uff0c\u6025\u9700\u62a2\u6551\u3001\u4fdd\u62a4\u3002<br \/>  Up till now, the Geng Village stories that have been compiled are a<em><\/em>bout 60 million words in total. Five volumes of A Collection of Geng Village Folktales as internal reference of research have been compiled and printed and 10 volumes of special issues of folktales and research works have been published, totaling 9.55 million words. The phenomenon of Geng Village folktales has aroused the attention of academic circles at home and abroad. Scholars from other countries like Japan especially came to visit Geng Village and held internatio<em><\/em>nal seminars. In recent years, the existing master story-tellers have grown advanced in years while the new generation seems to show less and less interest in the stories.
