{"id":8355,"date":"2019-10-22T16:46:37","date_gmt":"2019-10-22T16:46:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chinesemoment.com\/chinese-reading\/babies-named-olympic-games-ao-yun-bao-bao\/"},"modified":"2019-10-22T16:46:37","modified_gmt":"2019-10-22T16:46:37","slug":"babies-named-olympic-games-ao-yun-bao-bao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chinesemoment.com\/my\/babies-named-olympic-games-ao-yun-bao-bao\/","title":{"rendered":"Babies named \u2018Olympic Games\u2019 \u5965\u8fd0\u5b9d\u5b9d"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Chinese children are often named after virtues or events.<\/p>\n<p>  More than 4,000 children in China have been given the name Aoyun (\u5965\u8fd0), meaning Olympic Games, in the past 15 years.<\/p>\n<p>  The rise in popularity of the name is seen as a sign of support for the Games being staged in August in Beijing.<\/p>\n<p>  Officials in charge of identity cards say that more than 92% of the 4,104 registered Aoyuns are boys.<\/p>\n<p>  It is not uncommon for Chinese children to be given names of common events and popular slogans &#8211; such as Defend China (wei-guo\u536b\u56fd), Build the Nation (jian-guo \u5efa\u56fd) and Space Travel (yu-hang\u5b87\u822a).<\/p>\n<p>  There are 290,798 registered Civilisations.<\/p>\n<p>  The first surge in Aoyuns came in 1992, when China applied to host to the 2000 Games. a<em><\/em>bout 680 Aoyuns were registered at the time.<\/p>\n<p>  In 2002 another 553 Aoyuns were named, after China was chosen to host the 2008 Games.<\/p>\n<p>  In recent weeks babies have also been given names such as Hope for Sichuan, to show solidarity with earthquake victims.<br type=\"_moz\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"chine-tie-zi-nei-rong-zhi-hou\" id=\"chine-2912875959\"><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-1889418300638825\" crossorigin=\"anonymous\"><\/script><ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display:block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-1889418300638825\" \ndata-ad-slot=\"7273022922\" \ndata-ad-layout-key=\"-gw-3+1f-3d+2z\"\ndata-ad-format=\"fluid\"><\/ins>\n<script> \n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); \n<\/script>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chinese children are often named after virtues or events.
