In this Pinyin Lesson, we learn how to pro<\/em>nounce three initials, which are j, q, x. We also learn some Chinese characters that use “j, q, x”. In addition you can have tone drill and quiz.<\/p>\n

Initials<\/h3>\n

Initials are called \u58f0\u6bcd in simplified Chinese( pinyin: sh\u0113ngm\u01d4). There are 21 initials excluding y and w.<\/p>\n

The co<\/em>nventional order is:
b, p, m, f; d, t, ,n, l; g, k, h; j, q, x; zh, ch, sh, r; z, c, s<\/p>\n

Pro<\/em>nunciation Guide for j, q, x<\/h3>\n

The letters q, and x are pro<\/em>nounced more like the letters ch, and sh in cheap and she, respectively.<\/p>\n

The following guide is given in terms of English pronunciation. They are approximate, as there are some sounds of Pinyin do not correspond directly to sounds in English.<\/p>\n

1.\tj: as “ge” in “genius”.<\/p>\n
