He was a great realistic poet in the Tang Dynasty, and was one of the most influential poets and literati in the history of Chinese literature. His poems were wide-ranging in subject matters, multiple in form and simple in language, and he was well-known as the King of Poet and the Magic Poet. His political life was also very active, o<em><\/em>nce being a member of the Hanlin Academy and Reminder of the Left.
