He was a famous novelist in the Qing Dynasty. He was born in a notable family of landlords and bureaucrats, but later as a result of the declining of his family&#8217;s fortunes, he suffered various hardships in life. During his later years, with unswerving persistence, he spent ten years writing Ho<em><\/em>ngloumeng (A Dream of Red Mansion) and devoted himself to its editing and proofing. After his death, 80 chapters of the manus<em><\/em>cripts were kept.
