He was the founding emperor of the Ming Dynasty. At the age of 25, he joined the Ho<em><\/em>ngjin Army (the Red Turbans) to fight against the tyranny of the Yuan Dynasty. In 1361 (the seventh year of Lo<em><\/em>ngfeng Reign), he was given the title Duke of Wu, and in 1364 he set himself up as the King of Wu. In 1368, after destroying the peasant rebellions and the residual power of the Yuan Dynasty, he took the throne in Nanjing, taking Great Ming as the title of the reigning dynasty and Ho<em><\/em>ngwu as the era name, and set up the natio<em><\/em>nally unified feudal regimes. His reign was called &quot;Ho<em><\/em>ngwu Administration&quot;.
