Yajie: \u4ed6\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\u5de5\u4f5c\uff1fWhat’s his job?
Cam: \u4ed6\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\u5de5\u4f5c\uff1f(t\u0101 zuò shénme g\u014dngzuò?)
Yajie: \u4ed6. T-a, the first tone. \u4ed6  T-a is the word used to mean male or female.  So this could also mean what’s her job?
Cam: \u4ed6 (t\u0101). And \u6211(w\u01d2) is I.
Yajie: \u505a, means to do. Z-u-o, the fourth tone. \u505a.
Cam: \u505a (zuò).
Yajie: \u4ec0\u4e48,
Cam: \u4ec0\u4e48(shénme). We learned that earlier. That means "what"
Yajie: Right. And now we come to the word job, which means\u5de5\u4f5c, . \u5de5, g-o-n-g, the first tone, and \u4f5c, z-u-o, the fourth tone.
Cam: \u5de5\u4f5c (g\u014dngzuò).
Yajie: \u4ed6\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\u5de5\u4f5c\uff1fWhat’s his job?
Cam: \u4ed6\u505a\u4ec0\u4e48\u5de5\u4f5c\uff1f(t\u0101 zuò shénme g\u014dngzuò?)<\/p>\n

Cam:  So how would I answer the question then.  For example, how would I say "He is a teacher."?
Yajie:  You would say ta shi laoshi. There is “\u662f”  in this sentence, “\u662f”. The usage of “\u662f ” is similar to the verb “be” in English.
Cam: \u662f (shi). OK. I see.
Yajie: \u533b\u751f, is doctor.
Cam: \u533b\u751f (yisheng).
Yajie: \u8001\u5e08(laoshi) is teacher.
Cam: \u8001\u5e08(l\u01ceosh\u012b).<\/p>\n

Yajie: Also if you want to ask “are you busy at work”, you can say “\u4f60\u5de5\u4f5c\u5fd9\u5417\uff1f”
Cam: “\u4f60\u5de5\u4f5c\u5fd9\u5417\uff1f”(ni go<\/em>ngzuo mang ma?)
Yajie: \u5fd9, m-a-n-g, the second tone, means busy.
Cam: \u5fd9 (máng).
Yajie: If you are busy, you can say “\u5fd9”.
Cam: \u5fd9 (máng). Just one word? Seems easy.
Yajie: Definitely. If not, you can add the word “\u4e0d” to express the negative meaning. \u4e0d\u5fd9 (bu mang).
Cam: \u4e0d\u5fd9 (bù máng).
Yajie: Cam, last time we learned a word meaning “very” in English. Do you still remember that?
Cam: Yes. It’s \u5f88 (hen). The third tone. And if the answer was “very busy”, I could say \u5f88\u5fd9 (hen mang). Right?
Yajie: Yes, you are right. If you are very busy, you can say \u5f88\u5fd9(h\u011bn máng).
Cam: \u5f88\u5fd9(h\u011bn máng).<\/p>\n
