YJ:  And wo shi Yajie – Cam, yesterday we learned how to tell a taxi driver wher you want to go. So, does that help you?
Cam:  Well, it did.  But I still need to learn how to say a few other things as well.
Yajie:  Well, let’s check Key Words of the Day.<\/p>\n

Key Words of the Day<\/strong>
Left\uff0c\u5de6(zu\u01d2)\uff1bRight\uff0c\u53f3(yòu)\u3002 Please turn left\uff0c\u8bf7\u5de6\u62d0(q\u01d0ng zu\u01d2 gu\u01cei)\u3002It’s near the hotel\u3002\u5728\u5bbe\u9986\u9644\u8fd1\u3002(zài b\u012bngu\u01cen fùjìn) Please stop here. \u8bf7\u505c\u8fd9\u513f\u3002All in today’s Chinese Studio.<\/p>\n

Cam:  Yajie, I live on a street that is co<\/em>nfusing for taxi drivers to get to.  The driver always drives down the road, and I have to keep pointing right, because I need him to turn into a driveway. But how do I just say, “Please turn right”?
YJ: You know in Chinese right is \u53f3, y-o-u, the fourth tone.
Cam: \u53f3(yòu).
YJ: And turn, listen carefully, is \u62d0 (gu\u01cei), g-u-a-i, the third tone.
Cam: \u62d0 (gu\u01cei).
YJ: So turn right is \u53f3\u62d0( yòu gu\u01cei).
Cam: \u53f3\u62d0( yòu gu\u01cei)
YJ: Yes. And,in oral Chinese we say “\u5e08\u5085\uff0c\u8bf7\u53f3\u62d0(sh\u012bfu, q\u01d0ng yòu gu\u01cei)”
Cam: So what does \u5e08\u5085 (sh\u012bfu) mean?
YJ: \u5e08\u5085 (sh\u012bfu) is how you call taxi driver in oral Chinese. We’ll explain it more in later shows.
Cam:\u3000\u5e08\u5085 (sh\u012bfu). So that’s the taxi driver.
YJ: “\u5e08\u5085\uff0c\u8bf7\u53f3\u62d0(sh\u012bfu, q\u01d0ng yòu gu\u01cei)” Please turn right.
Cam: \u5e08\u5085\uff0c\u8bf7\u53f3\u62d0(sh\u012bfu, q\u01d0ng yòu gu\u01cei).<\/p>\n

Cam: Yajie, please turn right is \u53f3\u62d0\uff0cso I guess turn left is \u5de6\u62d0( zu\u01d2 gu\u01cei) , since in Chinese zuo is left, Right?
YJ: Absolutely. And one more useful phrase is\u8bf7\u76f4\u8d70(q\u01d0ng zhí z\u01d2u), please go straight.
Cam: \u8bf7\u76f4\u8d70(q\u01d0ng zhí z\u01d2u). \u76f4(zhí) means straight? And \u8d70(z\u01d2u) means go?
YJ: Yes, they are. \u76f4, z-h-i, the second tone, and  \u8d70,z-\u01d2-u, the third tone. \u8bf7\u76f4\u8d70(q\u01d0ng zhí z\u01d2u), please go straight.

YJ: And you can give more information to make it easier to find. For example, if the place is near a hotel, then you may say\u5728\u5bbe\u9986\u9644\u8fd1\u3002(zài b\u012bngu\u01cen fùjìn).
Cam: \u5728\u5bbe\u9986\u9644\u8fd1\u3002(zài b\u012bngu\u01cen fùjìn).
YJ:  \u5bbe\u9986(b\u012bngu\u01cen) means hotel. \u5728…..\u9644\u8fd1 (zài…fùjìn) together means near some place.
Cam: \u5bbe\u9986(b\u012bngu\u01cen),  hotel. and \u5728…..\u9644\u8fd1 (zài…fùjìn), near some place.
YJ: \u5728\u5bbe\u9986\u9644\u8fd1\u3002(zài b\u012bngu\u01cen fùjìn), near the hotel
Cam: \u5728\u5bbe\u9986\u9644\u8fd1\u3002(zài b\u012bngu\u01cen fùjìn). So then how do I say it’s near the stadium.
YJ: stadium in Chinese is \u4f53\u80b2\u9986(t\u01d0yùgu\u01cen).
Cam: \u4f53\u80b2\u9986(t\u01d0yùgu\u01cen). So in Chinese if i want to say“it’s near the stadium" is\u5728\u4f53\u80b2\u9986\u9644\u8fd1(zài t\u01d0yùgu\u01cen fùjìn), right?
YJ: Yes. \u5728\u4f53\u80b2\u9986\u9644\u8fd1(zài t\u01d0yùgu\u01cen fùjìn), it’s near the stadium.
Cam: OK,so finally here I am. But how do you say “Please stop here”?
YJ: it’s \u8bf7\u505c\u8fd9\u513f\u3002 \u8bf7means please, \u505c\uff0cstop, \u8fd9\u513f, here \u8bf7\u505c\u8fd9\u513f . Please stop here.
