Due to the early death of his father, he was raised in an impoverished family by his mother. Therefore, he had to shoulder family respo<em><\/em>nsibilities when he was quite young by doing business with Bao Shuya, who later recommended Kuan Chung to be prime minister of the State of Qi. Kuan Chung was lauded as the top prime minister of the Spring-and-Autumn Period after his arriving at the Qi State with an army. He helped Duke Huan of Qi to make the Qi State the first hegemo<em><\/em>nic leader of the vassal alliance in the Spring-and-Autumn Period.
