There are six kinds of sentence elements in Chinese:<br \/>  \t1. Subject<br \/>  \t2. Predicate<br \/>  \t3. Object<br \/>  \t4. Attributive<br \/>  \t5. Adverbial adjunct<br \/>  \t6. Complement<\/p>\n<p>  \t<strong>The Predicate<br \/>  \t<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>  \tThe predicate makes a statement about the subject. The predicate is usually placed after the subject. All kinds of notional words and most types of phrases can act as the subject.<\/p>\n<p>  \t\u4ed6\u81ea\u5df1\u5f00\u8f66\u53bb (t\u0101 z&igrave;j\u01d0 k\u0101i ch\u0113 q&ugrave;)\u3002He will drive there by himself. ( The verb &quot;\u5f00\u8f66\u53bb&quot; is the predicate)<br \/>  \t\u5929\u9ed1\u4e86 (ti\u0101n h\u0113i le)\u3002It is dark now. (The adjective &quot;\u9ed1&quot; is the predicate)<br \/>  \t\u6211\u4eca\u5e74\u5341\u516b (w\u01d2 j\u012bnni&aacute;n sh&iacute;b\u0101)\u3002This year I am eighteen years old. (The number &quot;eighteen&quot; is the predicate)<\/p>\n<p>  \tThe predicate can be followed by objects. For instance,<br \/>  \t\u6211\u5f00\u8f66 (w\u01d2 k\u0101i ch\u0113)\u3002I am driving a car. (One object)<br \/>  \t\u4ed6\u9001\u6211\u82b1 (t\u0101 s&ograve;ng w\u01d2 hu\u0101)\u3002He gave me a bunch of flowers. (Two objects)<\/p>\n<p>  \tWhen an adjective acts as the predicate the adverb &quot;\u5f88&quot; (h\u011bn) is usually used.
