\tInfernal Affairs II is a 2003 Hong Kong crime-thriller film directed by Andrew Lau<\/em> and Alan Mak<\/em>. <\/p>\n \n \tDirector: Alan Mak(L) and Andrew Lau(R)<\/strong><\/p>\n \tIt is a prequel to the 2002 film Infernal Affairs. Anthony Wong, Eric Tsang, Edison Chen, Shawn Yue,<\/em> and Chapman To<\/em> reprise their roles from the original film alongside new cast members Carina Lau<\/em>, Francis Ng, Roy Cheung<\/em> and Hu Jun<\/em>. Both Tony Leung<\/em> and Andy Lau<\/em>, who played the central roles in the original, do not appear in the film, as they are replaced by the younger versions played by Yue<\/em> and Chen<\/em>, respectively. The events of the film take place from 1991 to 1997.<\/p>\n \n \tEdison Chen<\/strong><\/p>\n \tThe film was highly anticipated prior to its release due to the success achieved by Infernal Affairs. However, the general response to the film was mixed. The film grossed HK$24,919,376 by 2003 Hong Kong standards, but only about half of the original's earnings.<\/p>\n \n \tShawn Yue<\/strong><\/p>\n \tAlthough Infernal Affairs II earned ten nominations for the 2003 Hong Kong Film Awards, it could not match its predecessor's success. The film won only one award, Best Original Film Song, for the song "\u957f\u7a7a(Pinyin: Chán\u0261k\u014dn\u0261)" (performed by Cantopop band Beyond<\/em>).
