While \u53c8 (yòu) is used for "again" in the past, \u518d (zài) is used for "again" in the future. That is, \u518d is used when something has happened o<\/em>nce and it will happen again in Chinese grammar. It is Expressing time and date.<\/p>\n

\u518d as "again"
The basic structure for using the future "again" is:
subject+\u518d+verb+object
In fact, this structure is present in one of the most common Chinese phrases: "\u518d\u89c1!" In this case, it literally means "See you again!"<\/p>\n

Examples: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

W\u01d2 xià cì zài lái.
\u6211 \u4e0b \u6b21 \u518d \u6765\u3002<\/div>\n
I’ll come again next time. <\/div>\n

\u518d as "and then" <\/span><\/strong>
A usage that feels sort of related but deserves separate mention is the use of \u518d to mean "and then." It is often preceded by \u5148 when giving clear sequential orders ("first do this… then do this…"), but it can also appear by itself to mean "and then."<\/p>\n

The example: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

W\u01d2men xi\u0101n ch\u012bfàn zài tán.
\u6211\u4eec \u5148 \u5403\u996d \u518d \u8c08\u3002<\/div>\n
We’ll eat first, and then we’ll talk.<\/div>\n

\u518d as "another" or "some more" <\/span><\/strong>
The English word "another" is often avoided altogether by using \u518d.<\/p>\n

N\u01d0 zài \u0261\u011bi w\u01d2 y\u012b zh\u0101n\u0261 zh\u01d0.

\u518d as "co<\/em>ntinuous action"
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here \u518d is similar to the English "for a while longer" or "keep [going\/doing]".<\/p>\n
