He is skilled in writing parallel prose, and his poems are of very high literary value. He and Du Mu are known as &ldquo;Little Li-Du&rdquo;, while he and Wen Tingyun are known as &ldquo;Wen Li&rdquo;. Li Shangyin&rsquo;s writing style was similar to those of Duan Chengshi and Wen Tingyun. In addition, three of them were the 16th child in the family, so their writing style is called &ldquo;three-sixteenth style&rdquo;. His poems are usually creatively structured and beautifully styled, and some of his popular love poems, which are sensuous, dense and allusive, in particular.
