With Beijing a<\/em>bout to impose "the strictest smoking ban" on June 1 to forbid smoking in public places, the city released three "stop smoking" signs on Sunday.

The government circulated three different signs(\u624b\u52bf), which read  "I mind"(\u6211\u4ecb\u610f), "Please stop smoking"(\u8bf7\u505c\u6b62\u5438\u70df\uff09, and "No smoking"(\u4e0d\u53ef\u4ee5\u5438\u70df\uff09 – and asked its citizens to take a vote\uff08\u6295\u7968).<\/p>\n

People also suggested(\u5efa\u8bae) better ways to stop smoking, like promoting education on the harm of smoking, showing graphic pictures of smokers’ lungs, or imposing fines on(\u7f5a\u6b3e) those who insist on smoking in public.<\/p>\n

Under the new regulation(\u6761\u4f8b), those who smoke in the public(\u5728\u516c\u5171\u573a\u6240) face a fine up to 200 yuan ($32), while higher penalties of 2,000 yuan ($323) to 10,000 yuan ($1616) will be levied on building owners that permit(\u5141\u8bb8) their clients to smoke outside in banned areas.<\/p>\n

The government will also open up a hotline(\u70ed\u7ebf) and a WeChat public account(\u516c\u4f17\u8d26\u53f7) for Beijing residents to file complaints(\u6295\u8bc9).<\/p>\n
