Yajie: Well. During the week we learnt two very im<\/em>portant sentence structures. One is declarative sentence\uff0cand another is interrogative sentence. These two are very basic. Let’s first go over some sentences.<\/p>\n

Yajie: \u662f(shì) means am, is and are in English. There is no need to co<\/em>nsider the time change or the form of the subject, no matter single or plural, or the first person or the second person.  \u662f(shì) is the symbol of a declarative sentence.<\/p>\n

Cam: \u6211\u7684\u540d\u5b57\u662fYuanbao\u3002(W\u01d2 de míngzi shì Yuanbao.) My Chinese name is Yuanbao. \u6211\u662f\u52a0\u62ff\u5927\u4eba\u3002(W\u01d2 shì Ji\u0101nádà rén.) I’m Canadian.<\/p>\n

Yajie: \u5417 indicates that the sentence belo<\/em>ngs to the interrogative kind. Like a question mark, \u5417 is a sign of a question in Chinese. You can say\u4f60\u597d\u5417\uff1fto your friends and other people you’ve already known. <\/p>\n

Cam: \u4f60\u597d\u5417 ( n\u01d0 h\u01ceo ma?), Yajie\uff1f<\/p>\n
