It 's said that Beijing have 2 dragon veins, one is the earth vein, namely the vein of Forbidden City, another one is water vein, referring to the line of Houhai and Beihai, and it just so happened that Prince Gong's Mansion located on the joint of Houhai and Beijing, namely the dragon vein.<\/div>\n<\/p>\n

The note described Prince Gong's Mansion on history book goes" Surrounded by Crescent River like a dragon, overlook at the west mountain like a tiger". The best-preserved Prince Gong's Mansion is located on the small lane to the northwest of Beijing's Shichahai, which is famous for its absorbing sightseeing. The mansion was originally the private residence of Heshen, a member of the imperial guard of Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong and it was constructed around the year of 1776. Before long Heshen was promoted to position normally occupied by the most experienced officials, enabling him to acquire great wealth. The aging Qianlong did nothing to curb Heshen's corruption but his successor, Emperor Jiaqing had Heshen executed and his property was confiscated. Eventually around the year of 1850, the mansion was passed to Prince Gong and it is his name that was to become that of the mansion.<\/div><\/p>\n
